We arrived in Barcelona after an early flight from Paris. It did not take us long to get to Barcelona from the airport, but finding our way to the apartment was a different story. We eventually got to the apartment, and made our way up the six flights of stairs with our suitcases. We spent the rest of the day exploring Barcelona a little. We strolled through the Gothic area and down ‘Las Ramblas’, a place that is a hive of activity. Today we walked endlessly, so we are feeling a little tired, sore and sunburnt. We walked to the Eiffel Tower, and climbed the 700 steps up to the second level. The queue for the lift was too long. Actually, we didn't realise that the queue we had waited in for 45 minutes sold only tickets to climb the stairs. We then travelled to the Arc de Triomphe, then walked back along the Champs Elysees to the Place de la Concorde, then through the Jardin Tuileries to the Louvre. From there, we went to the Sainte-Chapelle to view the two storey royal chapel with its amazing stained glass windows, where the king's relics of Christ's Passion were kept . Well in just over 12 hours we will be on our way to Paris. The Qantas flight leave Melbourne at 10.50pm with a stop over in Hong Kong to London then we catch a connecting flight from Heathrow to Paris. We arrive in Paris at around 7.30pm on 30th May 2009, and will be taken to our apartment in Paris which is on the 5th floor no less and no lift.... read more
