We arrived in Barcelona after an early flight from Paris. It did not take us long to get to Barcelona from the airport, but finding our way to the apartment was a different story. We eventually got to the apartment, and made our way up the six flights of stairs with our suitcases. We spent the rest of the day exploring Barcelona a little. We strolled through the Gothic area and down ‘Las Ramblas’, a place that is a hive of activity. We made the mistake of sitting in a tourist area to have some sangria; the most expensive drinks we’ve ever had.... read more

Yesterday was another big day, and we were so tired that we didn't put up a blog. We started the day heading to Montmatre and the Basilica of Sacre Coeur. Whilst walking, we came across the shopping centre of Les Halles, which was modern Eighties in design, but all of the floors were below street level. Next to it was the church of St Eustache. One thing about it is that they made their churches (not catherdrals) big here. We then continued walking to Sacre Coeur with its magnificent domes. This time around, we chose the funicular instead of the steps. Our next 'logical' stop was the Moulin Rogue. We decided not to go in, but to just see it from the outside. It is in the Red Light District after all, and it seems to ... read more

Today we walked endlessly, so we are feeling a little tired, sore and sunburnt. We walked to the Eiffel Tower, and climbed the 700 steps up to the second level. The queue for the lift was too long. Actually, we didn't realise that the queue we had waited in for 45 minutes sold only tickets to climb the stairs. We then travelled to the Arc de Triomphe, then walked back along the Champs Elysees to the Place de la Concorde, then through the Jardin Tuileries to the Louvre. From there, we went to the Sainte-Chapelle to view the two storey royal chapel with its amazing stained glass windows, where the king's relics of Christ's Passion were kept . The final stop was to look around inside the Catherdal of Notre Dame. Once inside, we took a ... read more

We arrived in Paris last night at 7.20pm 30th May. Thank God we booked the airport transfer it made life much easier to get to our apartment. We had a minor catastrophe, I brought the wrong power adaptor so we were not able to charge any of our equipment until late today Sunday 31st. We happened by chance to obtain one at a souvenir store near Notre Dame, so watch this space for some pictures soon. Today we went to mass at Notre Dame de Paris, insence and all!! And Tony and Ron, the thurifer put 360 degrees back in vogue. We then hopped on a train to Versailles, and spent the remaining afternoon wainting in line to get tickets. There was some time to see the Palace of Louis XIV and the glorious gardens. Jarie ... read more
