Well, this is the last one already!! As much as I'm going to miss travelling, can't say I'm gonna miss writing these... :P After the tour of Salar de Uyuni finished, we travelled up to La Paz, where we only had time to stay for one night. Following a gorgeous, FREE, pancake breakfast in our hostel (which has its own brewery....I've lost count of the amount of times I've wished I loved beer since I've been here!! :( ) we set off for the centre, and a nosey around. The quality of the buildings, roads, etc reminds me of Asunción, but it's soooooo much busier! I liked that about Asunciòn, how you could be right in the centre of the capital city of Paraguay, yet still feel like you're in a town. La Paz does have ... read more

Aloha! We seem to have been speeding around recently so thought it was time for another update! On our last day in Chile, we decided to take a day trip to the coastal town of Vina del Mar, which is around 2 hours away from Santiago. Seems weird that we can travel across the entire of a country in 2 hours!! It was a lovely wee village, with a long sandy beach (although sadly lacking the soft white sand we'd got used to in Rio!) and a cute market that we spent ages wandering through. Overall it seems like a really nice holiday destination for Chileans, although I think we´d all agree that one day was plenty! That night we caught an overnight coach over the Andes to Mendoza, back in Argentina. Since it was pitch ... read more

Well I'm now in Santiago, Chile, in the best hostel in the world!! The past couple of weeks have been soooo mega busy, but they're nothing compared to what the next few will be like....eeek!! Can't wait though =D We spent a lovely week in Rio, Christmas Day especially! And guess what?! GORGEOUS WEATHER!!!!! Aww it totally made our day, by far the best weather since we arrived in Brazil!! Spent the morning opening our prezzies from each other, which were fab! Nothing better than jewelery and gin teehee!! Oh and not forgetting LISA CRISPS!!! Actual crisps called "Lisa" omg!!! Then everyone else got in contact with home via Skype (lifesaver...if you don´t have it or know what it is...GET IT!! greatness =D) and we eventually made it down to the beach, santa hats in tow ... read more

Wow...I know I say this all the time but I really don´t know where to start!! So sorry I´ve been so distant recently, really have been just mega mega busy and don´t really have any other excuse hehe!! Ok, think I´ll start with my last week of Alegría, since that´s as far back as I can remember! What a week and a half!! The weeks before it were also really busy, since all the kids had exams (well the older ones anyways) which was a lot of hard work for both us and them! Then they had parent/teacher interviews which was scary cos I was left to take the class a lot of the time, at least it was just Christmassy stuff they were doing so I could manage fine =) Then on Wednesday 28th November ... read more

Hey folks, Thought I´d write a wee bit more about what I´m actually doing over here since nobody really seems to know much; I obviously haven´t explained it very clearly!! Can´t believe that I´ve only got just over 4 weeks left of it though, time really has sped past so much faster than I thought it would. First things first, no I´m not in an orpanage and no I´m not teaching english!! Technically I´ve got 2 placements, however that´s only cos the school I go to in the mornings closes at 12, and even though that´s my actual placement, I go to another placement in the afternoons so I get the most out of my days, rather than just working half days. In the mornings, I work in Centro Educativo Alegria (which means School of Happiness, ... read more

Aloha! Have got a couple of weeks to write about woopsie! Last weekend, well the weekend before that, oh i dunno, we went to visit Villa Hayes, where two other volunteers, Hugh and Emily, live and work. It´s a small village (or so we were told) about an hour or so away from the city, and it´s on the edge of the Chaco, which is an enormous area of land taking up almost half of Paraguay. However, although I don´t know too much about it, apparently it´s extremely sparse and dangerous, meaning next to nobody lives there. You can, however, take a safari or something similar into the Chaco, cos there´s a chance of seeing leopards or cheetahs or something, but to be honest it seems a bit boring and mega dangerous when it´s not really ... read more

Anyways thats me for now, take a wee lookie at these but remember actually being there they looked 1000 times better muahahaha!! :P Muchos lurve! Lisa xXxXx... read more

Uh oh, can feel this is gonna be a long one! Am just back from Iguazu Falls and I´ve got soooooo much to say u might get bored sorry!! Okay, I now wrote that 3 days ago and still have had no luck getting photos up, ggrrrrr!!! so am just gonna post this without them and hopefully get them up asap :) So, as I´ve said in previous blogs, we´d been planning to go to Iguazu Falls ever since we arrived and decided to take a long weekend this week to go on a ´mini holiday´ to Brazil. The town we were staying in was 6 hours away (roughly) by long-distance coach, so I got picked up at 6.30am on Friday morning to be taken to the bus terminal. Although saying that, I had heard from ... read more

Can´t believe it´s over a week since I last posted, time just seems to be flying past! Also wrote almost a whole blog yesterday then the computer decided to do its good deed for the day and switch itself OFF, so apologies if i sound a bitty moody!! Also, all of a sudden i woke up this morning with a friggin cold, suppose it´s my fault tho for running around in the rain on friday night - honestly never thought I´d be so happy at the sight of rain!!!! Keep meaning to write about this but always forget - a few weeks ago we came across a real life CAVEMAN honestly!! The 3 of us were sitting perfectly innocently outside Casa Cuna, at the end of lunchtime as we always do, when this black man stormed ... read more

Hey folks! Ive eventually managed to get a few photos on the computer so i´ll try and include them in this blog... Wow, this week has just passed sooo quickly, last week was MEGA slow but this week has just gone whoosh! It seems like there´s getting less and less news as i get used to living here, but dont worry im sure i can manage my usual essay lol! What i still cant get used to is getting stared at constantly, no matter what you´re doing, what you´re wearing, where you are or who you´re with, it´s so weird!! Don´t think im ever gonna get used to being the freak in town, dont know how u do it fiona!!! :P the funniest thing happened the other day, i was taking the long way home so ... read more
