Well, I'll tell you about my last week in China. It's a bit late, but as they say; better late than never. Actually I'm already back in Paris for more than a week and I'm happy to tell you that I found a new home! It's not as nice as my current one but it's ok and it's in a good neighbourhood. Ok, so my last week. The day after the typhoon Heidi and Jessy took me to a place where they sold electronics; a huge building with a lot of little sellers selling all kinds of electronic devices. On the second floor they sold phones; and we went there to look for a fake iphone, or as they call it; a 'mountain village version'. Designed in the US, assembled in China. There was a lot ... read more

Hi! Well, it seems like I'm going to come back from China earlier. I've received an email telling me that I'm really gonna be kicked out of my room from August 31th... So I have to be in Paris before that to move, and I have to start searching for another place to live. I just changed my flight to August 18th, so I'm going back in a week already! The past week has been great! Heidi is showing me a lot about the real Chinese live. A few days ago her father was invited to dine in a restaurant with some friends and they also took me. When we got there, the other people were already sitting on the (round) table. There were three other families; one with a small boy, one with a small ... read more

Hi! Here another update, although I didn't do too much the past week... First I passed two days in Shanghai, chilling a bit. The 28th I had coffee with a girl from Hong Kong, went to the Shanghai museum and then I was a bit lazy and actually went to the cinema to see Harry Potter in 3D haha. In the evening I experienced the Shanghai sightseeing tunnel, which I found a bit of a anticlimax. But then I climbed the pearl tower (highest building in Asia I believe) and that was cool! Gives a great view over Shanghai, I'll put some pictures so you can see ;) I felt like a proper superstar there, because I think at least 10 Chinese people wanted to make a photo with me haha. In the bottem of the ... read more

Hey hey! I see it's been a while... Thanks for the messages again! Good to hear from you guys. En wel een soort van geruststelling dat jullie t zelfde probleem hadden met de simkaart Han ;) I'm indeed in Shanghai now! But got a bit sick here... Well, I'll just start where I was left first; Emei Shan... Stairs, stairs, and more stairs... After Chendu, we took the bus to Emei Shan; a Buddhist mountain in the south of Sichuan. We didn't really know what to expect, but decided that we had to try some climbing anyway. Our plan with a few hours of climbing and cable cars for the rest of the way up didn't seem to work out; we could either take the bus all the way up, or climb. So we decided to ... read more

Hi! Thanks for the messages! It's nice to hear from you! Just a short message, because we're having a busy schedule of seeing a lot in a short time ;) where was I? Ah, hanging monastery, yes. The 7th we went to this monastry built on the side of a mountain. We met a Chinese English teacher who also went there so that made it easy :) The monastery was in the middle of the mountains; There used to be a river next to it, and the monastery was built higher and higher to protect against the water. We could walk through it, but this was a bit scary. The poles that support it were slowly rotting away, and I wouldn't be surprised when it will collapse one of these days. But we walked through it ... read more

We found an internet cafe again. We're in Datong now, I think far away the dirtiest and ugliest city I've ever seen in my life. But first my update for the past days. My last message ended at the great wall I see, so a lot to tell... Dancing in the park The next day (day 5) we went to the station in the morning to buy traintickets for Hohhot (Inner Mongolia). We moved to another hostel closer to the metro for one night; the next evening we would leave. These things (and buying another phone card) took us half a day. So we were quite late for all the sights, as they close around 17h. We decided to go to the Temple of Heaven Park, but also here we were too late for the sights. ... read more

Hi! Already a new update. We're still in Beijing but we slightly changed plans; we're going to inner mongolia tonight! We're not sure how many internet cafe's we'll find there, so we thought we'd better write something now... I'll try to keep it a bit shorter this time ;) Monday we didn't do much, as the internet cafe took quite some of our time ;) We just went to a hutong with some little shops and then we had the famous Peking Duck; was really good! Great Wall & Ming Tombs Tuesday we had did a trip from a little travel agency that came to me when I was sitting on the square behind the temple of heaven the first day. The trip went (according to the card) to the Great Wall, the Ming Tombs and ... read more

Hi guys! Thanks for the comments. It might seem like it doesn't work, but somehow I have to accept them before they appear, and still 2 comments seem to not appear, sorry, I don't know why... But I got them, thanks! Arrival in Beijing So, now I'm in Beijing! My flight was ok, there was a little delay in Paris due to an electricity fallout, but I still got my flight in London. On the way to China I had an amazing view over Siberia with the sun going under! (Varvara, I'll definitely come to visit you some day, it looks great! Maybe in summer though ;) ) So then at 9h30 Chinese time (3h30 Dutch/French time) I arrived, after being tested for the pork flue... I only slept for half an hour in the plane ... read more

Ni Hao! I'm almost leaving! Friday (26th) I'm flying from Charles de Gaulle and then I'll be in China for 2,5 month! I'll meet Dian saturday in Beijing, and we'll travel around for one month. We don't have a detailed plan yet, but I'm sure we're going to see a lot of cool places! Then Dian will fly back to Holland and I'll meet my friend Xu Jing (Heidi); I'll visit her parents in a town south of Shanghai, and she told me I'll also visit her grandma in the country side :) After that I'll go to a languageschool in Yangshuo, a place in the South of China that seems to be beautifull (just google some pictures and you'll see)! There I'll teach some English and hopefully learn some Chinese... So now it rests me ... read more
