Off to NYC!! - From: Oxford, Henley and Windsor
Hi Honey, I must say you are the most informative traveller I have ever had the pleasure of knowing, I literally feel as though I am there with all the visuals. The castle's are breathtaking and they are really into their mazes/hedges. Now the the US is beckoning, let me know when u hit NYC, I may need you to pick up something from Tiffany's for me and possibly a couple of items from GAP (happy for you to post it so u do not have to lug it around and given there is a FEDEX truck on every corner I am hoping I am not pushing the friendship??) Looking forward to the next installment!! Much Love xox

So Jealous!! - From: myths and legends and missing pirates
Hi Honey, I hope all is well...by the sounds of things you are having a sensational time and I am SO JEALOUS! I am loving the self portriats (you are both looking sensational) and I wish I could run through those hedge mazes and play off with your head in true Bolyen style (I know I cannot spell). I am also a little envious of those cucumber sandwichs as well, they were huge unlike the little ones we had at high tea!! Anyway hon, better love you and leave you but now that I have put 2 and 2 together and can send messages, I will be an avid emailer - wahoo - just what you need random emails to distract you from sightseeing!! Much Love xo mel

The Mona Lisa chica actually hung the painting in her bathroom, so she wasn't a big fan of it... It's just the enigmatic/ambivalent expression on her face, I think, that makes it so interesting/puzzling to people. That, and the whole Da Vinci thing. There's quite a lot of detail in it. And the fantasy landscape behind her was pretty unique at the time it was done. The absence of eyebrows "as was the style at the time" is also kinda freaky. It's also been damaged over the 100s of years, so it's "for a limited time only" sort of deal. If the temperature control ever fails, or if it gets nicked again (unlikely! but it has happened), it could crack or warp its way into history books forever.

I think I know the roundabout you mean... - From: Luxembourg, champagne and a bit cuckoo
Was this the roundabout in Paris where the arc de triomphe is in the middle? There are 5 main roads (each with about 4 lanes) leading to the roundabout and its an absolute mental place to drive. There is no rules and ppl literally just drive right through it? If so, I remember standing at the top of the arc marveling at the chaos below! (have pics somewhere...) I was told by someone (might be true, might not) that there is on average an accident there every 30secs. (didn't see any at all while I was there so who knows!). Amanda likes to tell the story when her tour bus went through there and the driver admitted that there is nothing to do but plant your foot and hope for the best! Scary!!! You wouldn't have caught me driving through there!! Hope you guys are having a great time - sounds like it!
