The fam and I usually do a January getaway every year. We really don't have a choice as Tennessee is completely gray for most of December through March. (Howevs, this year we didn't get below freezing til just this week I think... so it was actually about the same temperature back home as it was in Key West, especially since Key West was going through a SEVERE WINTER BLAST. It was like 45F, chill out Floridians, that is NOT cold LOL) ANYWAY, we left for the airport at 6:00am on New Year's Day. Never gonna do that again. Hungover/still kind of drunk from NYE, barely 2 hours of sleep, and food poisoning. It was not a fun day for travel, but when it only takes 4 hours to get to the beach, I really can't complain. ... read more

So as soon as Winter Break began, my boyfriend and I took a few days and went to his hometown of Lafayette, IN and the Windy City itself. I had a lovely time (despite the ridiculously cold temperatures). We were only there for one night and we spent it at Second City and several places close to the hotel (zoo, navy pier, skating rink but didn't skate, starbucks, borders LOL). Hope the pictures work this time. ...10 minutes later... Not working. F this website.... read more

Dear readers, I know I haven't updated much since, well, a few years? But that doesn't mean ya girl has been sitting on the couch all that time! My usual February 'get me the fuck outta here' 'tude has reared its nasty head and I flung myself onto a travel-bug infested mattress (aka, my laptop before I go to sleep LOL). In August 2009, my mom and her business associates took an Alaskan cruise. We like it so much that we took the exact same Holland America cruise the next year. You believe that? We're weird, but happy. Here's what happened. (I spent like 5 minutes that I'll never get back trying to upload photos. Ass of a website messed them up/didn't save them so whatever. I have them on Facebook, so all is not lost.) ... read more

Back in early January, Sarah, my mom, and her business partners took a much-needed vay-kay to the warm, beautiful, sunny Cancun, Mexico. (First time in Mexico. WHOO!) Five days of nothing but sleeping, lying on the beach or by the pool, reading, watching TV and eating flanksteak tacos. We were disgusting tourists who couldn't even bother to get on a damn tour bus to look at those Mayan temples. But yea. We've decided to make this a yearly trip every January HEY! So maybe next time. But yea nothing particularly interesting happened.. I did go an entire week at the beach without getting a major sunburn. Turns out sunscreen really is good for you. I sho love it. Anyways... Enjoy what few pictures we took.... read more

This happened back in August 2008. So I'm going to be stingy with the deetz, but itz better than nothing, eh? Oh, and in these pictures you'll notice a drastic change in hair. My apologiez. This new bob-looking thing on my head was never supposed to happen. Okay so we go to Paris, France. See the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Notre Dame, Champs-Elysees, all that good shtuff. I mentioned back in the China entry that I have a big problem with jet lag. Well being on a plane for an entire day, then being awake for another day with absolutely no sleep... yes, I was cranky. Sue me. So I didn't really enjoy my first day in Paris. The other days I was still kind of a little biznatch, but I was annoyed. Not to be ... read more

We bid Zhejiang University goodbye with a farewell dinner overlooking West Lake. Best dessert I've ever had. and it was just a nice way to end our stay in Hangzhou. Our last day in Hangzhou is the same as it is whenever I leave a place. It rained. Which matched my emotions perfectly to be honest. I loved Hangzhou and can't wait to go back in 2018 for our 10 year reunion. It'll happen. Chicken-on-a-stixx all around. So anyway, me being a moron, I wore my Jesus flippy-floppiez thinking that they wouldn't rot in my suitcase later on, but these devilries slid off into the road whenever I picked my foot up. My group 'bout left your girl Rae behind! Couple a times they were out of my sight. But we made it okay on to ... read more

This happened over 7 months ago, but I figure if I'm going to keep this blog alive, I should write about my trips in it regardless of how long ago it was. Background info: I was at the University of Evansville when I signed up, and all the 9 other students and 2 professors are all still there. Aaron, Lisa, Marisha, Theresa, Ashley, Chelsea, Lauren, Laura, Nathalie, Prof. Ro-ger, and Dr. Milner. Miss them! Okay so we left Evansville for Atlanta on May 12, 2008, and as soon as we landed, we got phone calls about a huge-ass earthquake in China. Of course. Minutes before we take off for Shanghai we get this awful news. Great. But we board anyway, 16 hours or so, I get the seat in the dead middle of the plane :ยท ... read more

Day 6 - Port Angeles/Seattle On the way back to Seattle we were going to stop at a lavender farm (we didn't) and the Olympic Game Farm (we did!) So we're out in the middle of Sequim and we drive up to this GHETTO farm. It was insane. They had yak, bison, buffalo, llamas, peacocks, rhinos, BEARS, deer, elk, lynx, coyotes, LIONS, and a BENGAL TIGER! we bought a loaf of bread to throw out the window, because you couldn't get out of the car, and these animals would like block your car and put their faces right up next to yours. Scared us half to death but then you look at the car behind you and they've got the whole animal's head IN THE CAR. It was a hoot. Especially the llamas. They sauntered. God, ... read more

Day 5 - Port Angeles. Olympic National Park. HOLY SMOKEZ, kids, you need to come to Olympic National Park! We drove up to Hurricane Ridge first, which was only about a 15 minute drive. Once you hit the top, there's a gift shop, clean bathrooms, convenience store, and BREATHTAKING views. Snowcapped mountains 'n all. There are tons of trails to hike and camp on, but we had a whole day o' stuff planned so we just went on the short one. It was still incredible.. go on! Look at the pictures! Then we drove on Highway 101 headed towards the Pacific Ocean. On the way there was this incredibly beautiful lake - Lake Cresent - and oh my stars.. there were mountains but just the water itself was a sight. It was beyond blue, y'all!. The ... read more

Day 3 - Victoria. Okay, here's a word of advice - DO NOT take the Clipper from Seattle to Victoria. It's a 3 hour long boat ride for $150. If you visit Seattle, go a few days to Port Angeles and take the 35 minute $35 ferry. You'll have more time seeing as you won't be wasting away on a damn boat for hours. Trust me. ANYWAY. We didn't know better so we rode the damn boat for 6 hours and got to stay in Victoria for only about 2.5. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice boat with good food. Just a dull ride. The package deal we did included a bus tour of the city and free entrance to Butchart Gardens. The gardens are absolutely beautiful. It was refreshing to see bright, vibrant flowers ... read more
