December 31st 2009

31.12.2009 - New Year’s Eve I know it sounds so cliché, but I just can’t believe this year is already over. Even though loads happened this year it still feels like it hasn’t even really started yet. And when I out it, it pretty much feels like yesterday, when we had that big party 1999/2000 at Cora's house, and that is like 10 years ago… Well, it’s like 4 in the afternoon now, and to be honest I have no idea what I’m gonna do tonight, yet. This morning I spontaneously bought tickets to this festival, that is gonna be on tomorrow. So I guess tonight, the party’s not gonna be so big… we’ll see. Right now I’m sitting on our balcony. It’s pretty damn hot here today, probably like 35 degrees. Everyone’s back from wherever ... read more

Friday, Dec 25th - Christmas Day Wow, it’s Christmas already. I really can’t believe this year is almost over again. I know it sounds stupid, but I feel like time is passing by faster as you get older… I must admit, I don’t feel Christmassy at all. It’s just not the same celebrating Christmas, when it’s hot outside. Plus I missed out on stuff like the Christmas markets, Christmas songs on the radio, Christmas candy and stuff. And fortunately the shops here aren’t big about Christmas songs and decoration either (as opposed to Kuala Lumpur). For me this is totally fine for this year. I mean, there is gonna be more Christmases to come… Haven’t really written since I moved in here. Let me give you the facts about this house: There are up to 18 ... read more

Friday, Dec 18th I finally found a place to live and I’m gonna move today. I’m very excited. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s affordable and I can stay there as long as I like and a minimum of two weeks. It’s pretty much a bed in a 6-Bed dorm in a private House where 12 people live. There is one bathroom, one kitchen and two toilets. Am curious, how that’s gonna work out… But they have the most amazing rooftop/ garden, where I can unroll my yoga mat. I recently discovered that that is all I need right now: A bed and a quite place for Yoga and Meditation. Oh, plus there is WiFi in the house which would be third on the list. It’s pretty central and biking distance to anywhere. It’s so funny, cause ... read more

December 13th 2009

Sunday, Dec 13th Can’t believe I’ve already been in Melbourne for 3 days. The flight was pretty uncomfortable (Air Asia seats don’t recline), but I got to meet a very nice guy from Chile, who’s currently living in New Zealand. The plane was on time and my backpack made it as well. My first impression of the Melbourne airport: Very clean, very organized, lots of exposed flesh and very expensive! I can’t believe how much things cost around here: accommodation, food, everything. Am staying at a shared dorm with three other girls and spending more in one night, than I previously did in three. The hostel’s decent, though, located right in the middle of the city. Don’t think I’m gonna stay here long. Gonna look for something cheaper tomorrow. Coming here, I kinda forgot, that people ... read more

Monday, Dec 7th Ok, I just need to get this off my mind, but wtf are men thinking sometimes??? Or better wtf are some men NOT THINKING sometimes. OK, here’s the story: I’m staying at this really nice hotel in KL right now and I just took the lift up to my room. So this guy was in the elevator with me and asked me “so, where are you from?” second question “are you here by yourself?” third question “oh, can I come up with you?” I think I expressed my opposition to his third question quite clearly, but still… The next time, something like that happens, I’ll just say a ridiculously high price like “Of course you can come up, but just so you know I charge 1500 $ an hour in advance…” Let’s see ... read more

Friday, Dec 4th - On the train to Trivandrum Can’t believe how fast the last three days went by… Great times, though. It was soo good to hang out with Ellie and Darius again… We really enjoyed the time in our prison-cell-like room. Ok, find the logic: the bathroom didn’t have a sink, but we had one big-ass TV… Well that’s gonna help, when you wanna wash your hands :-) Wednesday, Ellie and I had an all-girls day. We spend loads of money, went to a spa and ahared a piece of twenty-layer cake in the end. We got tailor-made Indian dresses (6 € incl. the fabric) and toe rings as friendship rings. Here, Indian women wear the toe rings, when they’re married. Well, Ellie and I decided it would be so much more fun to ... read more

December 2nd 2009

Tuesday, Dec 1st - Bangalore I really can’t believe it’s December already. I think I haven’t ever felt so unchristmassy as I feel right now. But anyways… Sunday was very relaxed. I didn’t really do anything except for hanging out at the guesthouse garden and talking to this really awesome and interesting woman from Hamburg. She also works as a yoga teacher and gave me a Kundalini lesson. Really liked it! So, amazing things do happen in India! For example when you get a random call on a Sunday morning by a person that you thought you’d never see again in your life. It was extremely hard for me to accept the fact that it wasn’t on me anymore to get in contact. Everyone pretty much said: Well, you’re gonna see each other again if it’s ... read more

Saturday, Nov 28th Today, I arrived in Auroville. It’s a little commune typa thing about 15km outta Pondy. Getting here was pretty adventurous. Just a little tip at the side: Never rely on Indians, if they’re talking about distances. Not even, if it’s the tourist info or locals or anybody. So I was told, the way from where the bus’d drop me to Auroville would be between ½ Km and 5 km. Well, turned outta be 10 km. But nice people took me on their bikes. J The idea of Auroville is to have people from all over the world living together in peace and hamony. The center is the Matrimandir, a temple, which kinda looks like a crossing between an oversized golden golfball , and a NASA space project. Tons of Indians pilger here to ... read more

Thursday, Nov 26th - Kaniyakumari & Pondicherry Yesterday morning I finally left Varkala beach. It was definitely about time. The place is nice and chilled and stuff, but you sometimes just gotta move on, cause all the convenience can get suffocating. Don’t really know, if that sounds logical, but I think everyone who travels, knows exactly what I’m talking about. So yesterday morning I left to take a train to get all the way down south to Kaniyakumari, the southernmost point of India. On the first train I found out, why there are railings besides the doors: So you can hold on to them, when the train is jammed-packed not to fall off the train. Get kinda hard with a backpack on my back, but I survived :-) No, sounds more dramatic than it actually was. ... read more
