The next few updates are going to be me recanting my adventures on Surfaris. Probably won't be very interesting for the general crowd but I want to write as much as possible for my own memories, and for those great people I met on Surfaris to enjoy. It all started on Monday morning when we got up really early and, as quietly as possible, packed up our gear and prepared to check out of home-away-from-home: Billabong Gardens. However, the office wasn't open yet at 7:00am, even though we were assured the night before that it would be, so we were forced [View Full Entry]

Well, we're now in Byron Bay after surfing our way up the east coast of Australia for the past 5 days. Only one word can describe our journey with "Surfaris:" INCREDIBLE!!!! Learning to surf was wondeful, the national parks we camped in were beautiful, the wildlife we saw was amazing, and our instructors/guides were an absolute joy to be associated with. I don't even know where to being with the updates for this past week, so I might have to leave this until tomorrow. I'm exhausted after getting up at 5am for the past two days to catch the sunrise and [View Full Entry]

OK, as many of your nkow I wrote the MCAT exam to get in to medical school in August, but it took a full 60days to mark, which almost killed me. I've been waiting for Oct. 14 for 60 long, long days. To make matters worse, since I'm a day ahead here it's been October 14th for hours and hours. I was thinking I had to wait until tomorrow for it to be Oct. 14th back home, but I just realized it's late enough now, so I went to the website and tried to log on...... But I couldn't! I couldn't [View Full Entry]

Warning: Boring update. Mostly only of interest to our parents and Laurel. Feel free to skip. I don't have much to update with today. We got up and headed straight to Bondi Beach, which is the same beach we went to on Thursday. It was INSANELY hot!!! And insanely busy. The occasions where I have witnessed so many people together in one place have been few and far between. All I can say is I'm glad I'm not a Bondi Beach lifeguard. There's quite the history to the Bondi Beach Lifesavers, actually. I think they might have been the first lifeguarding [View Full Entry]

My new wallet

Once again, people are waiting to use the computer and, once again, I'm super tired so this will have to be brief. Today we went to the Taronga Zoo here in Sydney. It was super cool, but Sydney is experiencing a heat wave right now so it was suuuuuuper hot. I don't know how hot it was in actual degrees, but we were drenched in sweat before we even arrived at the gates. We took the train to the Circular Quay, where we bought a "zoo pass" which includes the ferry ride to the zoo, zoo admission, and a ride on [View Full Entry]

Ferry to Zoo
Operahouse
Wallabies

Wow, it's finally started! We just spent our first glorious day in Sydney, and boy was it jam packed with adventures already. I'll try to touch on a few of them but I'm on a shared computer in high demand and I don't have my contacts in, so I'm not sure how far I'll get. Our ferry/bus/flights here were fairly uneventful. Passing through US customs was TERRIBLE. I felt like I was being processed for a POW camp. You just pass from one huge station to another without really knowing what you're doing at any time, and all the staff look [View Full Entry]

OK, I'm excited. Science Venture Jeff got me looking a surf school sites in Sydney last night. A bit pricey, but I'm sure it will be worth it. Maybe once I actually know what I'm doing I'll finally try surfing here at home. I've been meaning to for YEARS but it's never actually happened. Of course, that will depend on whether or not Tofino is just a ghost town due to extreme drought by that point... Sorry if you got an e-mail report about this lame post. I just have to make a few posts initially so that travelblog.org knows [View Full Entry]

Well, it looks like I'll be using this travel blog. I had tried a different site initially, but I hadn't realized that it was going to make everyone create an account with their site to do anything with it. This one looks good. I'm almost finished taking all my drugs. I've had a total of 5 needle pokes, some of which had combined vaccines, over the past month or so. The past 2 weeks have been particularly fun. I got my last Japanese Encephalitis shot on Wed. Sept. 6th (which apparantly has potentially drastic side-effects, though I seemed fine) then the [View Full Entry]
