I'll soon be embarking upon a one month trip to the Balkans. For those who are scratching your heads thinking, "hmmmmmmm.." Ok I'm gonna help you out. According to wikipedia.org, "The Balkans is a geographic region of southeastern Europe. The region takes its name from the Balkan Mountains, which run through the centre of Bulgaria into eastern Serbia."
