Pippa

I've been extremely lucky and blessed to be brought up by parents who love traveling just as much as they love each other (and my siblings and I, I hope!). Thanks to them, I've seen a whole lot of the world with still a lot left to discover. Surprisingly though, I've seen more of the world than my own homeland, The Philippines!

My friend mentioned that 2012 is the year to grow up, she couldn't have said it any more perfectly. For me, that means it's time to get a job, a real one. It kills me to say that I don't think my passport will be getting any stamps this year. With that, I declare that 2012 will be the year of adventures still, locally though! It's about time I figure out what this country has been hiding! After all, it's more fun in the Philippines!

It’s quite a trip away from Manila. It’s an hour plane ride to Legazpi, Albay then another hour by car to Sorsogon. I was half-asleep and disoriented for most of the trip, plus it didn’t help that the ... read more

My year of adventures started with a very popular festival celebrated in Cebu City, Cebu. For the month of January, most Filipinos local to the Visayas region pay tribute to the Santo Niño, the baby Jesus. Different provinces have their own versions for their devotions but Sinulog is known to be the biggest and most visited. Every year, Sinulog draws in millions of visitors for a weekend of culture, food, festivities (and alcohol!) After hearing about this for years, some friends and I decided to finally experience it! It was a perfect break from the busy city. We flew in Friday night (just an hour away from Manila by plane) and went straight to where the celebrations were! Crossroads is a popular strip of bars and restaurants where the locals and visitors (mostly visitors, I think!) ... read more
