Pie Floater...
Pie Floater...
A legendary South Australian dish...I still can't believe how amazing it was...
Went to 'Adelaide's Biggest Easter Egg Hunt' with my Adelaide family at the weekend. It turned out to be such a bright sunny day, which was great as we had brought chairs, blankets and an esky full of yummy food :) I was unfortunately too old to enter the egg hunt...I've never actually been on an easter egg hunt before come to think of it... We all went into the city afterwards to get some tea. Steve and I bought a pie floater each. They are THE best! A gorgeous meat pie swamped in pea soup...ahhh it was so good! You [View Full Entry]

Such posers...
Such posers...
Taken at seal bay, these sea lions loved to pose for the camera/sunbake their chests/sniff the surrounding air...in fact no one actually knows why they strike this familiar pose...
I decided to leave Anne and Steve's for a short while and go to Kangaroo Island on a two day camping tour. It was a very early 6:20am start when a small group of us left the city heading down the Fleurieu Peninsula to Cape Jervis, where we then boarded a ferry to take us to Kangaroo Island. The journey was very rocky, with one lady falling into everyone ahaha... On our arrival the weather just kept getting better and better which was wonderful as back in Adelaide it had been quite dreary. We drove to Seal Bay where you can [View Full Entry]

Mt Lofty Botanical Gardens...
It was so good to see the gardens like this, although every little noise made me jump...
Adelaide City, oh so pretty...it's like a country town, nothing like Melbourne or Sydney. Alot smaller and prettier :) I'm staying with friends up in the hills. Their house is beautiful surrounded by 10 acres of land...with sheep, dogs, cats, chickens...and 2 wonderful children who I've been playing 'heads down thumbs up' with :) The couple who I'm staying with have also put me on the insurance of their car, so I've had the freedom to drive and explore adelaide. They're so kind to do that for me... The first day with the car I was quite nervous, as I hadn't [View Full Entry]

The start of the most beautiful drive...
I can't believe I have now travelled this magnificent road, after so long imagining it and hearing such wonderful stories about it...
Never have I spent so much time looking out of a window...the great ocean road was simply stunning! The initial part of it had great weather, sun was in its full glory and the road is at its closest to the ocean. It was wonderful to look ahead at the coastline and know that that is where you will be in a moments time, you can really feel the shape of Australia's coast with all the twists and turns...fortunately I do not get travel sick! After spending a night in Apollo Bay the next day the weather change was rather dramatic! [View Full Entry]

Leaving Hamilton Island...
Leaving Hamilton Island...
It was such a beautiful boat ride to Airle Beach, on the top deck with the cool sea breeze in the hot sun...
Well I left Hamilton Island on a big boat to head to the mainland after my birthday. Boy is it hot up here in Queensland. It's beautiful...and is so great that you don't have to wear a jumper in the evenings like in Melbourne! I really didn't know what to expect from Airlie Beach, but one thing for sure, I didn't realise it was just one long strip which has everything on it! Bars, Clubs, Cafes, Restaurants, Accomodation etc It's all on one not very long strip of road...very strange, I thought it would be more like a bigger town... At [View Full Entry]

Happy Birthday Lucy...
It was so great to be given a banner to put up for my birthday...especially when the background looked like this...
Wow! I still can't believe that I celebrated my 19th birthday on Hamilton Island. I had a beautiful swim in the sea with my sister in law, the sea was so lovely and warm (you just had to be careful of the transparent jellyfish!) Unfortunately it rained quite a bit that day, but the moment we went onto the beach for our swim the sun actually came out from behind the clouds and then went back in when we did :) Beach, sun and stunning surroundings for my birthday, a combination I want to experience on many birthdays to come... Tried to do a bit of a 'Where's Wally?' in this picture, see if you can find myself and Danny amongst the crowd...
*Note* - I will add some photos for you all when I meet up with my big bro and use his lovely laptop in a few days :) Labour Day, 13th March...Katie, Danny, Sarah and I went to Earthcore in the park. There was such a mixture of people, with plenty of illuminous ravers some sporting the latest bunny rabbit outfits...oh I love the diversity at festivals and the fact that no one cares, makes me smile :) Anyway, first on was Schpongle who I now absolutely love. His Dj set was full of cultural influence, kept going by a steady [View Full Entry]

Hardcore Drum and Bass stage at Earthcore...

My week of travelling inland Victoria showed me some very cute places. I got the V-line train to Ballarat. (I now hate V-line, can't deal with all these rubbish timetables!) At the station whilst waiting for my bus to the hostel I was speaking to this guy who said he was getting the same bus as me, number 9. He then walked away and came back about 10 minutes later. He was sitting behind the bus shelter and I could hear him speaking to someone, it wasn't until I turned around that I realised there was no one there. He was [View Full Entry]

Night & Day, Melbourne City...
Night & Day, Melbourne City...
Had too many photos to choose from...
Right, now for my update on my fantastic first week in Melbourne with my beautiful friends Katie and Danny!! It was really strange when Katie picked me up from the station after flying from Tasmania, as I'd only met her once before when she was over in England and that was really brief anyway. It felt soooo goood to be in a home environment again and especially having a gorgeous double bed all to myself, it's so comfy! The next day Danny arrived from New Zealand (I know him from college, we were in the same group but opposite ends...) It [View Full Entry]

Leaving Katie and Danny (who I've been staying with in Melbourne) now to explore some of Victoria for a week...I will do a decent update on my time in Melbourne when I'm back at Katie's so I can put up some pictures too :) 2 weeks til my birthday...yesss, I can actually go to a beach for my birthday and the sun will be a shining...
