Hey , sorry if you have not been getting updates. Travelbolg was having some problems but they fixed them now. I was really glad to read everyones comments. So if you are interested back up a few blogs to catch up. As for this week well..... I always get this way. Effete. After my birthday I got depressed with my life that I am older and not doing anything with my life blah blah blah. I had an amazing time in Shanghai and then a great time with they guys for New Years but all my Chinese friends were away with family and I was alone. I started getting really homesick and depressed. I have come to realize that it’s important to do things with people and not just what you see. Because touring around ... read more

I am confused. The fact that I went to Shanghai, and did several very interesting cultural things over my holiday went uncommented on. The Indian man comment attracted the most attention. First let me put everyone’s mind at ease. The love of my life is a very famous Indian actor. I made that comment for my friends here in China who have spent countless hours watching his movies with me and trying to find his next bollywood movie. There is no one in my life and perhaps that is why no one leaves me any messages. Because ask anyone of my friends or watch any good TV series and love is what keeps peoples attention. I am confused as to why whom I am with is more interesting then what I am doing. I am surrounded. ... read more

Yeah!! The Internet is working at normal speed! So I can now catch up on all that went on while the Internet took a break. School finished with a bang! I can now say I made it through a semester of teaching with out to much heartache and next semester I know what I have to do and how to prepare. I got to know Alaina and Ruth much better. I am now addicted to Bollywood and Indian music. And I do believe that my next teaching job will be India. I am in love with that country and its *cough * cough** men, well one man. I went to Wafugin with Alaina and when I am with her I do things I would never do alone note the pictures of me eating crickets on a ... read more

It is now the Year New Year, The Year of the Pig. You cannot say you have experienced fireworks until you have experienced a Chinese New Year there is nothing quite like it. People setting off fireworks everywhere, in the street, on the sidewalk. I feel like this is the one good thing about living so far out. Fireworks are banned closer into town but not out here. The noise is deafening, car alarms keep going off I love it I feel like I am in a war zone. Walking down the street can be a quite dangerous because you don’t know where they are going to go off. O got hit in the head by flying debris, nothing serious. But it's actually a lot of fun and so exciting. They really like just smoke and ... read more

I am back from Shanghai and I really love that city. The Wellings are the nicest people you will ever meet. They took me into there home and were the greatest hosts ever. They took me shopping and fed me western food they are the greatest ever! Shanghai is very different from Beijing. More modern, starbucks on every corner, so many foreigners they don't look at me twice, everything goes up, warmer. It is the fashion capital of China. People dress very well and all the big name brands are being bought. When I got off the plane I was taken to the clothing market where I was fitted for new clothes it was great. I got to pick out my fabric and had pants made that fit me! I then went walking around on Nanjing ... read more

Well I have returned from winter camp! It was really good. I now feel like I can say that I have been immersed in China. Lets just say camp here is different than American camp. The first thing the students did after getting off the bus was take an English test! I was awakened every at 7am by the blasting of whistles as the kids did their morning exercises. I went to one Chinese Breakfast and that was it. Salted peanuts, tasteless steamed bread and Chinese porridge, and 1000-year eggs. I had luckily packed coffee. My classes began at 800 and I tried to teach as little as possible we played games and learned English songs (I taught them the hokey pokey) and English dramas. We then had lunch, which was terrible again. How I crave ... read more

Top story of the China Daily BEIJING - China will have 30 million more men of marriageable age than women in less than 15 years as a gender imbalance resulting in part from the country's tough one-child policy becomes more pronounced. The report predicted that by 2020 the imbalance would mean men of marriageable age — especially those with low income or little education — would find it difficult to find wives, resulting in possible social problems. The problem is not just a rural issue, with the newborn gender imbalance also widening in cities. In the first 11 months of 2006, there were 109 boys born in Beijing for every 100 girls. China Daily said one way to solve the problem would be to create a proper social security system so rural couples would not feel ... read more

Sorry for the long delay. Because of an earthquake off the coast of Taiwan the Internet has been down. Only in China could the Internet collapse and the only people complaining are the foreigners. All of Beijing not having Internet did not even make headlines news here. While it is up and running its slower than dial up and sporadic. So.... I made it through my open classes. The kids did not sing there songs it was like those r Vacation Bible schools where the music is running but you can't here the kids. The director was pleased and Steven was happy. I am now just trying to finish up my New Bridge classes. I just finished one of those weird Chinese vacations where they give you Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday off but they make Saturday ... read more

This week has been really good. I met Allison and her family downtown. I really like her family a lot they are kind easygoing people just like Alison. It was so good to catch up on the Green Street news. I also love hearing what other peoples impression of China is. I wish them safe travels as they make their whirlwind tour of Hong Kong and then back to Shanghai and home. As go into my weekend and my junior high classes the Christmas parties started. I have now taught the Christmas story three times my drawing improves with each telling. You would think that my art lessons would have paid off. Maybe it is because they have to draw all the Chinese characters but my students are really good artists. So when I started drawing ... read more

Dear brother and sisters, If you could remember me this coming week. This week has been especially stressful because it is the last week to practice before next weeks performances. I have been thinking of it like the last day of vacation Bible school when the kids get to show off what they have learned all semester. I had in my head what I wanted it to look like. Now with no more time to practice and some classes even to see the kids before I am being told to add this and change that. Steven told me to put together a powerpoint for the class. I did but wanting to focus on the childrens English I did not make it very elaborate. Yesterday i was informed that I have to turn in powerpoint along with ... read more
