And aI, a white, am moving there - From: Into the Province
Well, Kanos can be a pain, and being one for 66 years, I am an authority. I am planning to move to Asuncion in less than 2 weeks. Never been other than Cebu city. Hope I survive. Talisay was suggested.....but, well....

I agree with everything you say except that I don't think only Americans are judgmental. All humans are judgmental, Americans are just a little bit louder about their judgment.

Kindly note that this must be taken with a pinch of salt. I think your blog is a bit biased. You don't really see Malaysia at all. From your writing, I can tell that you are a very judgemental kind of person. Maybe being American it's only natural. But on the other hand, nice input and creatively done. I like how you tell your story. Content and substance somewhat misleading but roughly can be accepted as you are foreigner.

Thanks for the comments - From: Chicks dig the long dong
Fortunately I didn't get the bug from the ice but maybe I was lucky. There are lots of money changer kiosks and booths in the Dong Khoi and Pham Ngu Lao area. The going rate right now is around 18,000 VND to 1 USD, so don't take any less than that because the competition is fierce in the buiseness.

People in Manila just trying to be hospitable to you.. just please don't get them wrong. I'm glad you have a roadtrip to our Country. Just like the other guy say. Manila is not the only place Philippines can offer... Every city have their own flavor.. so picked a place that will suite you. if you don't like busy , chaos city life. Try the nature loving place of Tagaytay, Cavite...Indescribable beaches of Romblon, Cebu.

Re the Manila Hotel - From: Perla del Mar de Oriente
Cool, thanks for sharing with us, I am planning my Philippines trip in October, your article can be a good reference. Btw, according to people on Kolalo (http://www.kolalo.com/hotels/philippines/manila-hotels/), Manila Hotel, built in 1912, is located in the cultural and historical district of Manila, and is nestled on 3½ hectares of land along Roxas Boulevard.... what will you say? it sounds like a good choice?

dont come to singapore if you're gonna call us names. and dont base your judgement on what u see at holland village, or even katong. thats not what sg is all about. thats for e yuppies and e expats. get into the heartlands, go to a kopitiam and listen to the jabberings around u. more likely than not, you'll here someone complaining about e gah-men. there's plenty of improvement to be made around here, but it's my home and you've just insulted it. we've made what we could out of very little, so shut up and move on like e tourist you are cos you cant and wont do any better than has already been done.

The concert was great. As for the devil preaching part, if you believe all the gimmicks of these bands, you'll believe that WWF wrestling is for real. Welcome to Singapore. Hope you have a good time here.

Probably not you - From: So Good Bay
James, you're about the hundredth "white guy" who has responded to me wondering if he was that guy in kinamot. Most of them are just not fit for publication. My guess is probably not. That guy didn't look too friendly, nor sociable, and when I said hello to him he just about chased me away, saying, "get away, leave me alone". I don't think you were that guy, were you?

Maasin and beyond - From: So Good Bay
I just finished reading your blog and was very entertained with your account of Maasin, Bato and the world beyond. I too have visited there recently. Well, if you can call August 2007 and January 2008 recent. My wife is from Maasin, the Barangay of Ibarra to be specific. I have always felt at home there as well. The people are kind, genrous and welcoming. There is a feeling to Maasin that is both nostalgic and heart warming to me and I can't wait to go back someday soon. Your blog causes me to wonder if I was in the white guy in the restaurant. I could very well have been, but no matter, if I must be classified "white guy" is fine with me. Thank you for taking the time to blog your experience in Maasin. I really enjoyed it. All the best, James Bellingham Washington

Well, I guess my simple attempt at adding a little humor to an otherwise boring entry has backfired. If you've read many of my entries then you've probably noticed my proclivity for hyperbole. Exaggeration is supposed to be a gas but unfortunately I have failed to relate this idea to the dedicated and wittingly sophisticated readers of this wonderful and award-winning travelogue. Thank you, Mr. White Guy, for pointing this out. I'm sure some "If Owe Bees" out there are also offended of my condescension. Note: FOB ("If Owe Bee") means Fresh Off the Boat.

Another white guy - From: So Good Bay
I refer to your comments about the white guy in Sogod sitting alone eating. I am not the white guy however, I am another white guy from england and have been to Maasin city many many times (where my wifes family all live) and i spend time wandering there and riding my motorcycle because it is a wonderful place and Maasinhons are wonderful people. I am white but I feel at home there and feel like just another city dweller passing the time of day when sitting outside jollibee or a cafe eating or drinking coke. I love to wander the streets of Maasin, i dont feel threatened or intimidated i just feel at home. I have been to the Philippines around 7 times in 2 years and each time i feel i am going home. In the philippines i know white people can be in danger in certain parts but i have only ever met 1 bad filipino who wanted to cause trouble. I love the Philippines and the people there, i would be proud if i were filipino and am proud to call the ones i know as friends. I began by learning to speak Tagalog but when i met my wife i began learning Visya instead. My wife wasnt a mail order bride and i feel that the comments you made were unjustified about the white guy (maybe a child molester or a killer etc) maybe like me he feels at home there with all the wonderful filipinos. PLease do not take offense at my words, i just mean to say we are just people (white or otherwise) and we all have a story to tell.

Poor People - From: Mahabandoola
There are very few poor people in Myanmar, they may look poor and dress scruffy but the community spirit is very high and the support in families better than any developing country I've been in. They are not third world! I bet you did not see anyone starving to death, the true mark of poverty. I urge everyone to visit soon before it becomes overun by china...

Greeting from the UK. I very much enjoyed reading about your experience of Yangon - I spent two weeks in Burma in March and loved it - although it was heartbreaking seeing the poverty and oppression the people were so kind to me and made my time very special. If you have a chance, pop in to a school very near the Sule Paya - the address is 182 Seikantar Street - the students are so keen to pratise speaking English - they love meeting foreigners.
