Whoever they were from Brisbane radio - I forgot to ask their call letters - we did the interview this morning. It will be played on Australia Day. The only other news on a hard day at spruiking is that a guy who emailed me and said he wanted two flags called. It remains to be seen the result. It was supposed to be today but no call. I did have a moment with the partner of a sailing mate from Perth who moved to Melbourne. Cool. They want me to come to Melbourne. When Sydney cools off it'll be a good idea. ... read more

Well its a big office old Sydney. I set out for the bridge and spent some time at the top of the span. Lovely view, need I say. All well till the guard came up and said I had to furl the flag. Not happy. More of the big government body infringing free speech. the guard agreed with me but had to "follow orders". I strolled off the bridge, flag flying. Later called my guy at SMH to see if they thought free speech was worth anything. We'll see. Also called channel 7 to see what they thought. Today I sought the sweet spot, the spruikers dream -everybody wants a sticker- with no success. Finally headed for a pub - and why not. Came upon a restaurant which had the story of Don Quijote in panels above ... read more

A fine Sunday. Walked down Pitt St to the ferry and bought $15 all day pass. Took the ferry to Manly. Spruiked at the beach. Oh what a lovely day. Found a Chinese food hall plate for $4 with drink included. How do they do it? Took fast fery back to Circular quay. Then slow cat to all the stops on the way to Parramatta, except Parramatta. Fabulous Sydney. No wonder I love this country. On the way back it was like a private charter. My fellow travelers had done a $15 trip of gargantuan proportions and said I could do the Harbour bridge too. I thought I'd done enough and got off at Darling Harbour. A beer and a chat did me wonders. More stickers went out. Then my walk through hit a rough patch. ... read more

Carl and I checked with US Social Security to see if I can get benefits at age 62. They will send a letter here in four weeks. The key question is whether I worked for ten years in USA. I did work but my record was patchy. Watch this space. For the "Southern Cross and Boomerang" I feel like Don Quijote and you my readers will be my cyber Sancho Panzas. Those who stick with me - even laugh at me. Those who help me in this quest. Tilting at the widmills of inertia and indifference, while the future calls out for champions dreamers seers What better lance than beauty? A design as beguiling as the Mona Lisa(to an Australian). Even monarchists are enchanted. So what is my horses name?... read more

Well, we're in Cambridge, Mass., on family visiting holidays. We've covered Boston for nine days. We've hit the hot spots - especially the Mapparium. We'eve been downtown, north end, the big dig, Harvard Square, and the ever fabulous Druid in Inman Square, home of the best waitress this side of Australia. Yesterday was Marblehead, beautiful as ever. Today it's the Sam Adams Brewery. The tale of the southern cross and boomerang campaign on the Australian East Coast begins in a week. Stay tuned.... read more
