Tuesday 24.11.2009 Day 41 St David’s We went to St David’s the west most point in Wales. On the way we stopped in the town of Penbroke and explored there saw castle. We then saw the Carew castle and Tidal Mill which was closed due to strong winds. The Tidal mill is the only restored one in Wales and there are only 5 in Britain. The Castel displays the development from Norman fortification to Elizabethan country house. Archaeological excavations have uncovered evidence of a much earlier settlement possibly dating back some 2,000 years. Most of the fairies to Ireland were also not going due to the wind. Monday 23.11.2009 Day 40 Dylan Thomas boat house We posed some letters and did our washing and got on line and read our emails as we do not have internet in our room here we have to go reception to use the internet at 5 pound an hour($9 ) the most expensive internet we have had on this trip! We also did some research on car insurance and where happy with the one we have so we called up and paid for it. We then when to Dylan Thomas boat house and had a traditional welsh afternoon tea (for lunch) it was 4 pound 25 each and to go to see the boat house would have been 3 pound 75 so we got to see it and have lunch for a bit extra. Sunday 22.11.2009 Day 39 Laugharne Park The place we are staying at is a two bedroom lodge with kitchen and has fantastic views overlooking the estuary of the rivers corran and Taf in Carmarthen bay. We are up very high so have fantastic views there is a indoor pool, tennis court, Table tennis, Air Hockey, Gymnasium, sun bed, Crazy Golf and Laundry. Carmarthenshire is one of the oldest communal land council in the UK. Dylan Thomas house and boat shed is at the foot of the property and the Laugharne castle is walking distance away. In 1820 William Turner painted a view of the castle, Richard Hughes wrote some of his famous works here. Dylan Thomas wrote under milkwood here and it is about this area he spent the last years of his life living here. ... read more

Saturday 21.11.2009 Day 38 Laugharne We had a great bfast then went to Shakespeare wife (Ann’s) home where she lived before she married him. It was a sweet thatched farm house with fantastic gardens. We then drive to Shakespeare mother’s house which was supposed to be a working farm still where they have keep breads of animals as they would have been in Shakespeare day. When we got there it was closed for urgent restoration and you could see it needed then we could still see it from the road. We used out Sat Nav to take the back roads to our lodge for the next week. On the radio we heard that lots of roads were closed due to flooding and it was raining lots and we could see lots of rivers had broken there ... read more

Friday 20.11.2009 Day 37 We have a new car! We checked out of the hotel and had brunch then went to the car place to give our car another test drive. The car stalled again this time as we started to turn around to finish the test drive. We told the sales rep we did not want the car and wanted to test drive another car. He told s to talk to his manager who tried to talk us into having the car we said no way. The other car we wanted to test drive had no petrol in it so we said yes to it with just driving it 3 mts as we were running out of time. We told them if they did not have it by 5 that we wanted our deposit back. ... read more

Thursday 19.11.2009 Day 36 Shakespeare We had a sleep in extended our stay at the hotel for another nigh and then when to the car place they had our car in the service center when we arrived and explained that it was a battery problem and they have tested the alternator and it was ok. They said the car should be ready for us tomorrow. We when to Stratford-upon-avon where Shakespeare was born, died and berried and where his wife lived before she married him and where his mother lived. We saw the place where the house was that he owned for the last 18 years of his life and where he died. We saw his grave in the church where he was burred and we saw his baptism and death register. Wednesday 18.11.2009 Day 35 Birmingham We woke up to see a boat going though the cannels and locks it was interesting to see then changing the water levels. We organized the 7 day free insurance on the car and got a quote for insurance that we will take up later. We had brunch at big Johns a UK take away chain that sells almost every take away food i.e. fish and chips chicken (roasted, fried or portages stile) Pizza, dona kebab, pies pasties, burgers and more. It was also drive though we need some of these in Aus. We then went to the dealer and took the car for a test drive. Tuesday 17.11.2009 Day 34 Buying a car in the UK We got up and had a look on line for car prices and dealers around Birmingham. We then when and got a GPS and a thing so my iPod would play thought the radio. We used the GPS to take us to a few of the car dealers. We found a car we liked. We tried to go for a test drive but the battery was flat so we put a deposit on and said we would take if for a test drive the next day. Monday 16.11.2009 Day 33 We checked out of our hotel and asked them to get us a taxi to the airport. A few times he said driver and I keep saying no Taxi. He then told us it would take 20 min he did not give us a booking number like we got when we had booked the taxi the day before and he wanted us to stay in the waiting room with him when our bags where in the foyer I did not trust him and decided to wait in the foyer. It was getting close to when the taxi should be there so we went outside to wait again the guy came to ask what we were doing and we explain it would be easier to see the taxi if we were outside. ... read more

Sunday 15.11.2009 Day 31 More Malian bike show Well we had another fantastic day at the Malian bike show we got the train there and back but got off at the wrong stop so ended up getting a taxi the rest of the way home as it was raining. We spend more time in the MV VIP lounge where we had lunch and were given lots of Margaritas and meet the MV owner mr Castiglioni. We meet an ext Ducati rider who was a dirt bike rider then a road racer then was in world super bikes with Bimota and the Ducati he want to get his pic taken with me and gave me his autograph it was Giancarlo Falappa.
