| 20th August 2008 ontheroadEandS | Surfing and bottle stacking. - From: All that goes on in a week on the road As for the bottle stacking, it seemed to be some natural born talent. replication should be a breeze! As for surfing on the east coat...with a super thick wet suit, a hood, gloves, and booties i think it can be done in RI. At least thats what my sister tells me. Having me brave those frigid waters though will take a lot of convincing! |
| 19th August 2008 Lucille | - From: All that goes on in a week on the road Well the end is near now. Enjoy your remaining days there. Hopefully you will write another blog or two before you head home. I look forward to finding a new one when I go onthe computer from someone. Thanks for sharing with all of us. I have followed many friends all over the world this summer on blogs and I will miss the blogs. At least now after they are over I will get to see my friends. Safe travels home. See you soon Lucille |
| 19th August 2008 Suze and Gia | Beer bottles.... - From: All that goes on in a week on the road You know what they say, don't you? Girls love a guy with skillz. Hope you can replicate that feat when you get back - I'd love to see it! Enjoy your return to Bali. If you surf again, I'll be envious once more. Maybe some east coast surfing can be found at some future date - I've wanted to learn how since I was a kid. Stay safe and well and have fun in the home stretch! Suze |
| 19th August 2008 ontheroadEandS | Paddling - From: All that goes on in a week on the road I tried to tell you, you must have had your Yankee's hat on too tight to hear me. ;) hope you had a good flight home. |
| 19th August 2008 TEENA 1 | I was paddling! - From: All that goes on in a week on the road who are you to take all the credit for paddling? If you had a problem with it you should have said something sooner and I thought I was doing it correctly. It's not every day I get on a kayak... Remember my fear of the man eating fish? And by the way I am not as sweet as kristin, you need to do something about your snoring!! Love your favorite New Yorker |
| 19th August 2008 ontheroadEandS | Bad habbits and such - From: All that goes on in a week on the road I truly appreciate your polite ladylike ways. I'm sure I will even more so when I hear about it all. Thank you. |
| 19th August 2008 ontheroadEandS | Darts...how about the horns!?!? - From: All that goes on in a week on the road Dude the musical section was surely the best. Almost busted a gut on that one. Have a great time back home. I get back Friday the 22nd. How bout you? When do you get back to Boston. For sure a new continent next summer. |
| 19th August 2008 ontheroadEandS | Living together - From: All that goes on in a week on the road So true lucile so true. The ping-pong was something else. See you soon. |
| 18th August 2008 Lucille | Surfer boy - From: All that goes on in a week on the road Glad to hear that you met up with the girls and all about your adventures. Sounds like you all learned alot about one another which happens when you travel/live with friends for the first time. Trust me we all have our own little quirks.... that friends don't know about until you spend endless time together. A great and treasured experience had by all that you will all have forever. Enjoy your remaining days and surfing. Safe travels home. Lucille Can't wait to hear the ping pong stories from each of you. |
| 18th August 2008 Kristin, VP | - From: All that goes on in a week on the road Looks like someone should have brought a dictionary with them. And yes, we could go into detail about your "little habits" but being a lady I will leave them out... for now. AND, I did notice New York barely paddling. The panic attack may not have happened if we rowed with all our might. You were missed the last few days. See you soon! |
| 18th August 2008 mike allen | balloons - From: All that goes on in a week on the road So you saw the ping pong. But what about the balloons and darts? So you're just chillin' on Bali now, eh? When do you get back? I'm off to Blighty today. Sounds like you had one or two Kwames on the trip. You'll have to try a different continent next time. Enjoy the rest of your time. See you when the time comes. mike |
| 18th August 2008 ontheroadEandS | Perspectives and comparisons - From: All that goes on in a week on the road I can't wait to hear your commentary! First MT will be something! |
| 18th August 2008 karen | and so it goes... - From: All that goes on in a week on the road I think the best part about your travels with the "girls" is that I get to compare "notes". I find the perspectives very interesting. Enjoy your last few days in Bali. Have a safe journey back! |
| 14th August 2008 Michael S. Simon | Greetings from the Brooks - From: Good Morning Ho Chi Minh City Dear Mike, Eric, Kristin, Christina, and 'fellow travelers'-- Following all of your trips has been fascinating and educational. I truly feel as if I've learned so much about the world that I would never uncover on my own. Not only are your individual exploits interesting, but your connections, both through meeting up and through discussions of shared experiences, add an incredible depth to the experience. You can't imagine how exciting it is for me that four teachers from my school are out there experiencing the world in ways that most of us will never be brave enough to try. When we say that we like to have teachers who bring different experience and backgrounds to a school, we don't realize what the potential really is. What you're doing this summer adds such an amazing dimension to our community! |
| 13th August 2008 ontheroadEandS | Thanks - From: Good Morning Ho Chi Minh City Thanks lucile. It has been great so far! |
| 11th August 2008 mike allen | costs - From: Good Morning Ho Chi Minh City Bah humbug! $10 a night. Grrr. Add a zero to that number and you're closer to my world, although I have been lucky at times - like now for instance. Glad you're OK and having fun. What are you doing back in Indonesia? mike |
| 11th August 2008 Lucille | Mr President......so you think - From: Good Morning Ho Chi Minh City Glad to hear that you were able to see more of Vietnam than the first time and also about the great time you had with Gabrielle and Tristan. This is another great adventure that you can all reminisce about throught the years especially when you get old and to share with the grandkids and relatives. I am so happy that you willbe going to the island and meeting up with the girls. May all of you have an amazing adventure and time together there. It will be amazing to meet up with friends from home in another world. enjoy and stay safe. Lucille |
| 10th August 2008 aunty donna | You should be a writer - From: Good Morning Ho Chi Minh City Really Eric your blogs are the best. Whenever you decide to stop these summer experiences, what will we all read. While I get to stay in the same spot every summer I at least get to try and feel your good times as I read. Your little cousin made it home safely from her Ireland experience. A couple of pounds heavier from her Guinnesses she had daily over there. But she did have a great time and now she has to focus on her college life. And Nick gets up every day at 5:30 and goes running to get in shape for soccer can you believe that. Well anyway glad to hear that you are safe and sound (though your diving stories make me a little nervous) and enjoying every bit of your trip. Looking forward to see you, Gabrielle and Tristan all safely back in the great USA and hearing more stories. Love Aunty Donna, Mich and Nick |
| 10th August 2008 ontheroadEandS | President Paci - From: Good Morning Ho Chi Minh City I think I earned that title! Of course I would though, that is why I'm president. |
| 10th August 2008 ontheroadEandS | Golf... - From: Good Morning Ho Chi Minh City I have to say that every time we drive by a golf course I think about it. I'll be good and ready, if not out of practice, when I get home. |
| 10th August 2008 ontheroadEandS | Hey Luci, Danta, and Anette - From: Good Morning Ho Chi Minh City I'm glad you are enjoying the virtual journey. It is very exciting for me to have some of my kids (and maybe future students as well) along with me in spirit. It is really great to get messages from home. Makes it not seem so very far away. I'm now in Bangkok, Thailand. A very large crazy city! |
| 10th August 2008 Luciano Dante Fiore | Very Jealous - From: Good Morning Ho Chi Minh City We are sitting here reading about all of your adventures while we plan what fun kids things we are gong to todoay. Adult adventure seems so much carefree. We love receiving your blogs they make you feel that we are there with you. We appreciate the experience you are sharing with us. | 10th August 2008 GP | Miss our golf games - From: Good Morning Ho Chi Minh City hey Eric .. Glad you've enjoyed Vietnam and the many wonders of the place. It's always fun to read your commentary. Thanks for sharing so much with us. I miss our golf games. Get your butt home soon, so we can enjoy a few rounds before settling in to work. I still haven't gotten to Chicago to see Mark. So much going on. Now with gabrielle home and another moving experience it looks like it will be September before I can get out there. I've been invited to speak at the Second life Community Conference in Tampa the weekend of Sept 5-6-7. It will be a good take as well as a chance to travel a bit. Lisa and I had lunch with Stephanie last Wednesday and caught up on all the happenings with her. I'm very glad to see good things happening. Enjoy the rest of your stay, be safe and know that we all miss you very much. Lisa always asks and when I talk with Rina once a week you Gabrielle and Mark are all she wants to know about. Dad |

| 8th August 2008 ontheroadEandS | Random Discretion - From: Ninh Binh, Hue, Hoi An, Nhn Trang It isn't so much random as it is sporadic. I am sure you have plenty left. Don't worry, I'll teach you all the tricks of the trade when you decide to pack the fam up and tak them to the 3rd world. I got all the recipes, so you can expect quite the good meal. Mind you, did I even cook once when you were in Boston? It is a tad bit intimidating. |
| 8th August 2008 ontheroadEandS | Whitey needs a friend... - From: Ninh Binh, Hue, Hoi An, Nhn Trang NO! He doesn't need a friend. He says I am the best friend anyone can have! |
| 8th August 2008 Shirley | Jeans - From: Ninh Binh, Hue, Hoi An, Nhn Trang Hey.... I need 4 pair of those Hollister jeans! Also, a coat, some pants, a few lanterns, and a basket boat. I think Whitey needs a friend.... |
| 8th August 2008 Zach | just wondering... - From: Ninh Binh, Hue, Hoi An, Nhn Trang So...squid sald--can we anticipate a re-creation of said salad and other aforementioned items? I promise to not be too critical regardless of the outcome. And Whitey...I find it quite amusing the random discretion you use for your frugality! Good luck with that one. I have plenty more sass filled comments but perhaps I'll save them for the next visit during the slide show! I am truly happy for all the good, bad and inbetween that is filling your days--most definately remarkable. peace. |
| 8th August 2008 Mom | Zoot suit - From: Ninh Binh, Hue, Hoi An, Nhn Trang Mike Allen your comment makes me wish I could find a picture of Eric when he was about 4 years old. Had a suit just like the one he just bought. He wore it with a white turtle neck shirt and a red flower in the lapel ... We used to call him Al Pacino Jr. (from the "Godfather") looks very much the same today!!! So you got it right. Enjoy your travels too and the warm weather it is in 60's here this week and raining every day. Lots of storms and flooding maybe you will all bring summer back with you when you return. Love to all... safe travels enjoy. Hugs Mom |
| 8th August 2008 ontheroadEandS | Whitey - From: Ninh Binh, Hue, Hoi An, Nhn Trang Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking. I really didn't need extra stuff to carry but I just couldn't resist. No fear on the Lucky Boy shirt. It wouldn't be a trip without it! |
| 7th August 2008 Suze and Gia | Lucky Boy - From: Ninh Binh, Hue, Hoi An, Nhn Trang Thank goodness you posted a picture with the famous shirt on! I had been waiting for it and hoped you wouldn't disappoint. Lantern making sounds cool......I'd love to do that too! Niiiiice suit, dude. So besides the box with the lantern making supplies, you're carrying around a bunch of fancy new clothes too? Good luck! |
