BCG apparently doesn't work that well, and doesn't provide any sort of long term immunity, but it might help kids for a few of their early years. In "developed countries" the risks associated with vaccination with BCG are too high... and having BCG takes away the mantoux skin test as a diagnosis for TB exposure.
