With the volcano flights had been canceled all over Europe and my host parents were stuck in Italy. My host dad had taken about 10 trains in a very roundabout route but got home at some point on my in between traveling day. I spent the day resting mostly...I was sick from Morocco but determined to go on the rest of my travels. I also spent several hours trying to get my pictures from Morocco o

Yesterday I met Catherine for lunch in between classes. She took me to a wonderful restaurant in the latin quarter which she said is a favorite of students particular med students and law students in later years who have started making some money. It is a traditional French bistro called Polidor. We started with Escargot for me and some pat for Catherine. The escargot were cooked inside their

CHENONCEAUIt seemed as though we had stepped out of the bus into a fairy tale. The castle and its grounds are absolutely beautiful. A moat is formed by a river. The castle is small but wonderful. I chose to follow the French speaking tour guide and understood quite well I will let the pictures speak for themselves. I had fun walking in the labyrinth though it was quite easy. The flower garden f

I have officially been here for 2 months half way through I can't believe how quickly the time has passed. April is going to be a crazy month full of travelingTUESDAYTuesday was full of fun things even though I was in a weird mood most of the day. Kind of anxious and annoyed. It might have been exacerbated by sleep deprivation since I had returned home so late the night before but still manag

The seder on Monday night was wonderful. The apartment was absolutely beautiful. Claudia had told me not to bring anything but I am glad I sprung for the flowers because they were quite appreciative. I walked in and was greeted in the very French manner with kisses and greeted by their golden retriever Orion Mme M was surprised by the size of my Jewish star necklace and asked me if I was not a

The weather was nice and we had a much needed caf and croissant on the terrasse of a little caf right near the fountain. After our quick snack we headed to the march which was very interesting. I got to see a lot of typical French food there and everything looked and smelled ama

During the day if I go to the library I often can't grab a computer as there are only 2 But I may start heading to the ISA office more anyway to try to make friends with the other students as I have failed to do so and it has made me a bit lonely even if I do have to leave a bit ear

Last Sunday I went to the Chinese new year parade in the asian quarter.
Yesterday was a quiet day. The weather was nice and I went for a nice walk but other than that relaxed at home. It was a tiring week. I went to Catherine's for dinner where I met some friends of hers. We had some delicious appetizers that included little bread things topped with various things and cheesey pastries with some very good champagne.
Cours Phonetique

I had my first phonetics class today. It was more boring than I expected we had to identify how many syllables words have when written and spoken. We also went to the lab where there is recording equipment and we had to repeat after the professor and then replay it over and over and keep repeating while the teacher could tune in and help out. But I guess I was doing okay because she didn't say m

Yesterday after class I went to chez Catherine. She gave me a book detailing Paris on the cheap I'm sure it will be very useful in the coming months. We went to Le Marais and had lunch in the Jewish quartier. It was quite delicious. We saw a few Hotels which are not where one sleeps on a vacation but used to be homes owned by a single rich family. They are very pretty and have nice gardens. The

Today I got to sleep in a bit although I woke up earlier than I would have liked and couldn't stay asleep afterward for some reason even though I was still tired. It wouldn't be jet lag...it's in the wrong direction so I don't know why.I went to chez Catherine for lunch where we had spaghetti and fresh meatballs which was very good. Agns then took me through the Egyptian wing of the Louvre. S

I didn't write yesterday because not much happened. I stayed home in the morning and tried to rest so my cold would go away. Now I am no longer congested but still have a bit of a cough. For lunch I set off to find the CROUS in this neighborhood. It was kind of tricky had to go inside Universit Ren DesCartes but I didn't know that at first. When I figured out that it was the right number I
