Leaving Las Vegas I didn't leave Las Vegas (or, Lost Wages, as a friend calls it), until late afternoon. I rarely feel like rushing. Like Kwai Chang Caine on the series Kung-Fu said, "The oxen move slow, but the earth will wait," . Finally I got started around 2pm then I missed a highway exit sign and saw I was heading to Boulder City's Hoover Dam, so I just continued. I didn't expect it would have changed much since the 1960s when a couple of us had decided to follow the real Route 66 from "Chicago to LA". Boulder City sounds really BIG. It's not. And Hoover Dam is jammed with tourists, like myself. Driving across the Arizona / California desert is soooo picturesque. The desert is far from boring, unless of course, you're stranded there.
