30th March 2008- V Festival. The line up includes Smashing Pumpkins, Queens of the Stone Age, Duran Duran, Air, Roisin Murphy, Robyn and countless other fine acts! I had been waiting to go to this concert for a least 6 months since i bought my tickets and the dream of actually seing Smashing Pumpkins was out of this world! We were dreding the felluca trip, just because the weather had been soo cold in Cairo and we were freaking out that we may get the runs during the 3 day sail (no toilets) extravaganza. We set sail in Aswana for Kom Ombo and Edfu. We were on the nile dancer and our 3 tours guides were very much into the dubies. Day 2- So the Felucca didn't quite make it to our proposed destination the first night but we pulled over along the Nile at some local village with around 5 other felucca’s. Little did we know but this was more so an organised stop as all the local village children ran down with their gifts for us to buy. Amanda and I felt bad so we bought about 6 items off the kids. Amanda and I set off for Egypt on the 11th February 2008. Our flight from Abu Dhabi was approximately 4 hours and was fine. I wasn't too keen on the plane food after my vomiting spree from Singapore to Abu Dhabi, so I just ate the pita bread and hommos yummmmm! We flew into Cairo airport and a partially cloudy day. We didn't get a view of the pyramids but the earth beneath was a goldy/ orange colour (desert colour). Once we arrived our tour guide collected us and took us through customs.
