Was time to leave Amsterdam for a few days and head to Germany for some beer drinking at the Stuttgart Spring fest. What would normally be an 8 or so hour drive on NZ roads was easily shortened when you drive the autobahn at 160180km We arrived in no time.We made it in time for the festival only to be met by a long line to get into the tent but being the cool kids we are we jumped the cue a

Tues 7thIt was time to return to the central city to go check out a house that some girl by then name of Anne Frank lived in.I studied the map and off I went. Soon to realise that sometimes you need to keep checking in on that map to make sure you are heading in the right direction. Not me I dont do that. So after almost 4050 mins of walking I finally decided to check well glad I finally did

Time for a little culture so I jumped onto the old folks bus and headed to what seemed like a retirement village that is Keukenhof. There I wandered around and had a perve at some really amazing looking tulip fields colours as far as the eye can see. Im not one to go all goo goo over flowers so they must be pretty cool if even I think they are worth looking at.After a few hours I had to get away

Big little city.

After a day of walking around Amsterdam city it was time to spend half a day walking around the whole country. So off we went and drove to Maduradam a large model park of Holland... that has been shrunken down in size. The detail on the models was pretty amazing and quite funny to see after you have actually been in the full size real versions of it. We acted like kids all day wandering around H

After a long flight over... well two long flights over one with 7 hours of no entertainment system I Finally made it to Amsterdam. Was great to see a familiar face on the other side of the arrivals terminal which was just as great to not have to find my way to into town and look for a hostel at 6am.Given the long flight it was natural that I should have a snooze so it was said we would sleep f

So after 6 months away experiencing the Latin culture it is sad to say i have left it all behind and returned to NZ. Though it is really good to see my family and friends again but it means that i have left others behind. It has been such a fun journey over the past 6 months and i have meet some great people and seen some amazing things.
And so my final week has counted down. And what a week it was.Spent alot of time hanging out with my friends shopping going out for lunches and singing more karaoke pulling some rock star poses.Unfortunately one of those said lunches gave me some food poisoning so i had to spend a few days holed up feeling sorry for myself. But i wasn39t going to let that ruin my last week here so filled u

Have been a busy body this week. Went to the Chapultepec castlethe only royal castle in the American continent. It sits high on the hill overlooking the city. The building was amazing with big marble staircases and grand murals on the walls etc. Though it was clear that i have been to way too many museums etc as i wasn39t that excited by the exhibits on display. But more impressed with the

Left the hills behind and headed back to Mexico city to spend my last two weeks catching up with my friends and exploring more of the city.A friends cousin came to town in the weekend from NZ so we met up in the center of town to go out for some drinks.
Arrived late at night high in the hills of San Cristobal. Could not be dealing with big hairy spiders another night.San Cristobal is a small colonial town where lots of the locals all wear their traditional outfits they are really cute...helps that they are all really midget like too.Decided it would be a good idea to go for a horse ride in the hills. We went to some small village just out of

Welcome to the jungle

Left Merida and arrived at jungle. Checked into a hostel that was made up of a bunch of very simple cabaas with walls up to the waist then mesh the rest of the way. So i started closing the curtains to get some privacy so no one could watch me pick my nose or scratch my bottom. Then what did i see sitting there on my curtain.... a big hairy tarantula looking spider. I almost pooped myself. I d

Again not much to say here as we spent the last few days of basking in the hot sun swimming pina coladas and a trip to an island in the mix.We caught a ferry from downtown Cancun and headed to Isla Mujeres to swim in a different clear blue water. We arrived on the island and hired a golf cart thus ending up hooning around the island like race car drivers driving 20km a fast 20km.
Got up early to head straight to the statue of liberty and beat the crowds. Only to get there and find that to actually go inside the statue you need to book a week in advance and to go up into the crown you have you book 4 months in advance. So i just headed over to the island to walk around and and see the statue up close and personal. The statue is really big you could see people standing ri
