| 3rd April 2006 Sheila | still having trouble with fleas? - From: keeping on keeping on! Do this: at night, set a roasting pan or low container on the floor containing soapy water (dish soap is what I used) and shine a light on it. A desk lamp works perfectly, but a table lamp will also do. The closer you can get the light to the water the better. The little fleas commit suicide by jumping toward the light and into the soapy water. No pesticides! |

| 31st March 2006 Jessica | Fleas - From: keeping on keeping on! Hey there, I had a letter all set to send to you and some how I still have it. I had a little method for helping with the flea situation. Uou put a low pan, kind of like a baking pan on the floor and fill it with water, then set a small cup upside down with a little candle on top, and keep it on at night. The fleas will try to hop to the light, and end up in the water where they will meet their demise. It's better than using a chemical although you end up waking to the Poseidon Adventure. My neighbor had a cat whose fleas decided to seek asylum in my place and this little method helped a lot. I hope it can bring you a little peace. Hugs, Jessica |

| 1st October 2005 David Shannon | Oh God, the memories! - From: Moon over Philly This morning is the very first time I have even looked at blogs. After a dozen I decided they were mostly written by people who mostly wanted to listen to themselves and really had little of interest to say. I was certain I had nothing to comment on. And then I stumbled onto your posting!!! Ack - the memories! I am a native Montanan who attended Cornell and then went back to MSU at Bozeman for Grad School. After working for DOL in Billings, I - wait for it - joined the Peace Corps. I didn't fly from Bozeman to Philly - but I did drive a battered old orange VW Camper Van (called the "Lorax")from Dutton (N of Great Falls) all the way to Philly for Peace Corps orientation. I was sent to Iran as an Agricultural Advisor. I loved pre-revolution Iran and it set me on a new life. I did grad school again at the School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vermont - went to Niger, West Africa, with Lutheran World Relief (digging wells in the Sahel) - then Jacmel, Haiti, with Foster Parents Plan (now ChildReach) rum punch on the Caribbean beaches - and then the dream! Assigned as Country Director in Nepal with PLAN. Fabulous times - then met a NZ woman working with Mother Theresa Hospice in Kathmandu - moved to NZ, married and now have two girls I am encouraging to consider voluntary service abroad.
