I'm in Mexico City at the moment, having come here from Brazil via Easter Island, and as usual I have about 2 months worth of travels to update, so here goes.... From the Pantanal to Brasilia it was another 18 hour bus journey, getting there at lunchtime. Because Brasilia isn't geared up for backpackers at all, I only spent one night there in a 'budget' hotel (10 whole pounds!), having the whole day the next day and leaving on another night bus. I´m in Campo Grande in Brazil at the moment, whiling away the 8 hours between checking out of my hotel and getting the bus to Brasilia! (a mere 18 hour journey). So I don´t suppose I have any excuse for my blog not being up to date. I´ve just finished a 4 day trip into the Pantanal, where I saw toucans, very rare hyacinth mccaws, caimans, a tapir and the dreaded anaconda. It would appear that I've not been very good at keeping my travel blog updated, now having at least a month's worth of backlog, but I have lot's of excuses, the main one of which is that I've been in the middle of nowhere for a long time now, and when we've got to somewhere with internet facilities, we usually don't have time to do anything at all. Or I suppose it should be An Inca Trail, as the one we did is not the classic trail which takes you to the Sun Gate at Macchu Picchu. Instead we did a trail that started in a village in the Lares valley and followed old Inca paths for three days, including crossing over a pass at 4800m. The first day we just went on a trip to Pisac in the Sacred Valley, a really impressive Inca site with ruins of temples and other bits and bobs on a steep terraced valley. Still toying with the idea of buying one, but they´re a bit more expensive in Quito, so will probably dither about it for the next year or so...anyway, here´s some photos.
