Fuji Rock- Day 3 Asia » Japan » Niigata
Got up early to watch Polysics, but then a long wait for the onsen and a torrential downpour stopped me from seeing Jimmy Eat World (boo, heard they were good, so CHECK THEM OUT) and Clap your Hands say Yeah (saw them last time, CHECK THEM OUT). Here's who I did see and who you should download: Polysics- crazy Japanese cult band who play wicked music. CHECK THEM OUT FOR SURE! Weezer- Rivers Cuomo is the original geek cutey. Love him! We were right up front in the pit. It was awesome. You should already know them, but CHECK THEM OUT [View Full Entry]

Fuji Rock- Day 2 Asia » Japan » Niigata
After getting in after dawn, I surprisingly still made it up early to hit the onsen before early shows started. Here's who I saw today and my totally biased analysis: Eli Paperboy Reed- again, they are awesome, CHECK THEM OUT RIGHT NOW!! Justin Nozuka- he's adorable, sigh. Kind of sounds like Jack Johnson so if you like chill music coming from a hot guy then CHECK HIM OUT Gaslight Anthem- not really my type of music, but not horrible either. Franz Ferdinand- sadly I only caught a couple of songs but I liked what I heard so CHECK THEM OUT JET- [View Full Entry]

For my Fuji Rock posts, I'm just going to list the bands I saw, tell you if they rocked or not, and add pictures. Sound good? Ok, here goes: M83- Meh, nothing to write home about The Virgins- fun band, sound like the Strokes- CHECK THEM OUT! Peaches- YES YES YES She ROCKED!!! Great live show, totally CHECK HER OUT Simian Mobile Disco- good DJs, got the crowd going- CHECK THEM OUT Oasis- I love their music, but their performance was boring. They were moody and complaining so we got bored and left. BOOOO Gang Gang Dance- a couple of OK [View Full Entry]

I'm soon giving up my computer so I'm writing now. I'm leaving it here. I probably won't have internet access while I"m at the festival, so it may be a few days before I write again. I got up today and finished packing up my room. I went to the ATM to take out the ridiculous amount of money I owed Sovy at the Banana- I have been staying here for an awfully long time! Jack drove me to a store where his friend said I could get lemongrass tea, but alas, no lemongrass tea. Sorry, Theresia- I tried! Now I'm [View Full Entry]

I was feeling pretty crappy when I woke up today so I didn't really do much. I think eating at the local Cambodian place did a number on my stomach- luckily nothing too severe, but just enough to lack the motivation to move at all. I watched some Wire and took a couple of naps. My packing's pretty much done other than I need to go back to the apartment and get my laundry tomorrow. I met up with Jennie and Jake at Equinox where they were having a drink. We walked over to the White Lotus Restaurant. I'm not sure [View Full Entry]

I spent the morning applying for jobs and packing all my stuff that I'm not taking with me to Japan. Jack picked me up and we took it over to the apartment. I stayed there and did laundry and watched the movie "The Hangover". It was pretty funny, but I was expecting more... Anyway, I walked back and stopped to buy giftbags and look for lemongrass tea, which I swear doesn't really exist, but I'm trying to find it! I took a nap and woke up at like 9. I went out with Jack and his friend to a local restaurant- [View Full Entry]

Today I went to the Russian Market with Kat, Becky, and Alexa. I had to buy loads of gifts for everyone in Japan. It's obligatory when you visit Japan that you bring gifts of some sort for everyone. It doesn't matter as much what it is than that it is given. I bought a bunch of scarves, some chopstick holders, a couple of paintings, and some necklaces. I'm also going to buy some lemongrass tea, but I can't seem to figure out where to get it and no one seems to know! Theresia swears she saw it everywhere here... We'll see! [View Full Entry]

I got a text from Cat seeing if I wanted to hang out at the Elsewhere pool today with her and Becky. Sounds perfect! I haven't gotten sun in a few days. I met them at Herb Cafe for lunch then we went to Elsewhere. It's nice sitting around in the pool, having a refreshing beverage, chatting with friends. We stayed there for awhile but then it started to rain so we went next door to the Banana to change. Jack picked us up and we drove to the airport to pick up Becky's cousin, Alexa. They hadn't seen eachother in [View Full Entry]

Met people for lunch at the Bodhi Tree. Actually, I just had a lemon soda because my stomach wasn't feeling so great from the long night before :-) Teal was applying for a job as an English teacher, so she asked for my help. I gave her a couple of my old lesson plans and told her how to set up the lesson. I think I'm going to apply at the same place when I get back from Japan. I can work a couple of hours a day and make some extra spending money while I'm here. I came home and [View Full Entry]
