| 29th August 2009 mnieman | Sihanoukville - From: Sihanoukville! Hey- hope you're enjoying Siem Reap! It rained the second day we were there so we skipped the beach. The other two days we spent on the beach were beautiful, though, and the water was calm. The place we stayed had a couple of TV rooms and a nice bar area, and there's a Happy Herb Pizza place walking distance away, so if it does rain there are still some things to do :-) We stayed at the Monkey Republic, on Serendipity Beach- check it out. Have a good time! |
| 28th August 2009 Audun from Norway | How's Sihanoukville at this time of year? - From: Sihanoukville! Hi! Did some searching about how Sihanoukville is at this time of year, and your blog popped up:) We are two friends currently in Siem Reap, but considering going to Sihanoukville tomorrow by nightbus. Heard the weather could be unstable - so how is it? What better reference is to ask the "locals" - hope you are having a good time! -Audun |
| 26th August 2009 mnieman | Dumpling address - From: Night of ROCK Hi Deb- Thanks for reading! The dumpling place (it says "Chinese Noodles" in English on the sign) is located on Monivong, between Street 288 and street 310. I'm not sure where that is from your hotel, but any tuk tuk driver will understand Monivong and 310 (or "bai roi dahp"). Enjoy! |
| 25th August 2009 Debbie | Dumplings - From: Night of ROCK Hi Marianne, I have been reading your blog for a few weeks now, I like reading about new people "on the ground" so to speak. Can you tell me the name and give me the address/directions for the 12 for $1.20 dumpling place please? Or is it just called Chinese Noodles? They sound awesome. I will be staying at the Cozyna Hotel on Sisowath while in Phnom Penh. Could you give me directions from there please? Good luck with your job hunting. Regards Deb |

| 26th July 2009 sunnie | Travel manners - From: Goodbye, Cambodia. Hello, Japan! I love the fact that you are so flexible in your travel arrangements. I always love to have a general direction and just flow with it. When you have a sleeping bag, you are set! I have taken many trips like that and loved everyone! Have fun over there! I am traveling to Sacramento for work the next six weeks. My job starts here in Redding on Sept 2, hotel is to open Dec 2. My animals are able to stay home instead of boarding (I was not liking that idea). Neighbors are helping, brother too. :) All is well and happy here. Keep it fun! Much love! Sunnie |

| 4th July 2009 mnieman | made it! - From: How many motorbike drivers does it take to cross a border? Hey- yep, I made it, 12 hours later :-) I'm back in PP now, recovering from a pretty nasty hangover... fun times. Happy 4th, hope you do something fun in Saigon tonight!! |
| 3rd July 2009 Heather | You're alive! - From: How many motorbike drivers does it take to cross a border? You made it! Me too! My trip was a lot smoother than yours, sounds like... sat on top of my bag, squeezed into the back of that local bus for 3 hours and couldn't move an inch and had to pee but didn't want to get off when they stopped and have the bus drive off with my stuff, so I just toughed it out. So got to Can Tho around 3ish and took a motorbike to my hotel, also starving and dehydrated, but overall no problems. Guess I should have given you some more dong, but glad everything ended up working out... |

| 2nd June 2009 Suzanne | bug spray and sunscreen - From: lazy sweaty days Ahhh yes it exists in the US not sure about Cambodia....but if you have electricity look for the plug in bug things (like the technical term :)....you put a little disc in and plug it in ....best thing ever invented and most likely is toxic since I have never seen them in the US. |
| 2nd June 2009 Tamera | I am loving your blog! - From: the impossibility of invisibility Just wanted to pop in and tell you how happy I am that you are documenting your experiences with such detail. I recently had a meeting with ASTEP, and it looks like I may be headed to India for a few weeks after the semester to do similar work. Your insights are very helpful. Plus, I like hearing the blow-by-blow of your day...e.g. eating it on the pavement. I am not known for my grace either! :-) Love you, Marianne! Be safe. xoxo tamera |
| 2nd June 2009 mnieman | - From: lazy sweaty days HA Tracie you're the second person to send me that article. But you know what else isn't a good mix? Malaria and second degree sunburns. Just sayin. |
| 2nd June 2009 mnieman | - From: bare shoulders and $1 pedicures Tracie- yea, the show is bad and good. The concept is slightly lame but it's not that badly written and it has tons of nice looking people doing tons of naughty things. Apparently it's based on a famous tween vampire series... |
| 1st June 2009 Tracie | - From: lazy sweaty days Also: http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/news/20040916/bug-spray-sunscreen-may-not-be-good-mix Yikes. |
| 1st June 2009 Tracie | - From: lazy sweaty days As a sidebar to question #1, I also want someone to make a leave-in hair conditioner with sunscreen in it. I always burn my scalp. |
| 1st June 2009 Tracie | - From: bare shoulders and $1 pedicures I knew you'd love 30 Rock! I've been meaning to get caught up on True Blood. I hear it's sort of crappy but also sort of addicting. Another thing to add to the list of shows I should force Mazaher to watch. |
