After a VERY long day of traveling, I have made it back to the US, back to Brooklyn, back to my room and my bed. Yesterday, I spent the day at a cafe for the last time, mostly downloading music, getting my travel info on paper rather than in my computer, and chilling. I spent my last couple of days in Phnom Penh relaxing, packing, and downloading music at a cafe lol Yesterday night though Mason had a barbecue at his place. I have some great pictures, some of the boys in the kiddy pool seeing who can hold their breath the longest, but sadly (or luckily for them) I packed my camera/computer cord already. On the 3rd I got up, got ready, and went to Haha Cafe. Da (my tuk tuk driver) waited for me then I headed to the Russian Market. I bought a lot of TV series for Alice, Tracie, and myself. Now my only worry is getting them through customs. I've heard mixed stories, ranging from they don't care at all to people getting fined. I'm hoping for the former rather than the latter- if they try to fine me they're not going to get anything because I have no money, so not sure how that works exactly... On the 1st I woke up and headed to Cafe Fresco, near Mason's apartment. They have yummy food and wifi. I stayed there for awhile then headed back to the apartment to meet up with Mason for pub quiz night. We got to Gym Bar and met Teal, Lauren (Mason's friend who lived in Brooklyn), and three guys she works with who we met the other night. Kat left on the 30th and after I spent the rest of the day cleaning everything out of the apartment. The landlords told us to just leave everything in piles, so we had a garbage pile on one side of the hallway and a free stuff pile on the other side. I also packed all my stuff. Yesterday, Eve left in the afternoon. It was great meeting her and I hope to hang out with her again soon! In the evening we decided to go to Friends for dinner (ok, I decided mostly because I'm obsessed with that restaurant) but decided to first check out the happy hour at the Elephant Bar. This bar is in the Raffles Hotel, which is by far one of the nicest hotels in Phnom Penh. It's where loads of diplomats, high ranking people stay when they come to town. Yesterday we got up and sadly found that it was pretty rainy. Instead of heading to the beach, we headed to a pizza place, gorged ourselves on yummy pizza, then headed back to our hostel and watched movies all afternoon and evening. It was a nice, relaxing day. First we watched the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, then Life of Brian. Both classics. We spent 90% of the day lounging. Yesterday we didn't do much- went to Haha to check email, went to Chinese Noodles for dinner, then watched movies at ours. Today we got up and headed to the bus station to catch a bus to Sihanoukville. This city is the most developed of the beack towns in Cambodia and the only one with recognized PADI diving centers. It's rainy season so I'm not going diving (visibility is bad and a lot of the places are closed) but I'm glad Cambodia has at least one place to dive! Woke up late today with a slight hangover but last night was fun so it was worth it :-) Cat, Eve and I headed to Street 240 to get lunch. This street is cute and the most boutique-y street of Phnom Penh- there's a row of fancy clothing stores and cute little restaurants. We went to eat at "The Shop", a cafe that has phenomenal sandwiches. Woke up at noon today. Mason stopped by to pick out stuff he wants to buy from us for his apartment.
