| 10th September 2007 Ron Nowlan | Public Apology - From: There are no mops in Costa Rica Hey there, I'm sorry if my comment came off as being rude but your blog was the second I read within five minutes that claimed Costa Rica is a third world country. I realize it is not the USA but to compare it to real "under developed" nation does not do it justice in mine or the United Nations opinion. If you look at the rankings for the countries in the world Costa Rica is right up there. I know there are issues with respect to corruption and administrative inadequacies. I just want you to consider that you live in a different place. I'm sure there are places in the US where you wouldn't be able to find your favorite mop. Sorry for lashig out at you |
| 10th September 2007 mklein | Thanks for the comment - From: There are no mops in Costa Rica Thanks for your comment- Yet I have been to the 3rd World, having spent 2 months living in a tent in the deserts of the Afar region of Ethiopia with no electricity, running water or permanent structure to live in. I worked only with wildlife and locals only. If you really believe that Costa Rica is not any more 3rd world than the US, you have either not spent much time here, or you live in Escazu/Santa Ana or in an American area near the beach. I am not saying that it is a bad thing, but we definitely are not in the 1st world any more. |
| 9th September 2007 R N O B | Third World?? - From: There are no mops in Costa Rica Dude you've obviously never been to the third world. You don't live in the USA anymore and things are different but Costa Rica is not the third world anymore than the USA. Check out the life expectancy and availability of health care. Third world because you can't find your throw away environmentally damaging mop. Give us all a break. I dare you to publish this! |

| 20th June 2007 Rick | My best wishes - From: The Hotel's Pool is up and running - New Pics Hi Mike and Rachel, Congratualtions. I've always wanted to own my own hotel or inn. I work in the hospitality in the U.S. - pretty much all of my career life. I love the lodging industry and the island life. I just happened to ping your site by accident, my daughter did summer school in Tico country, in the Heredia area last year and stayed with a local host family. She loves the counrty and its people. As I said earlier I want to be a hotelier or an innkeeper too but have not made that leap towards it, I guess I love the steady paycheck but I need to give it a shot. Any advice would be nice. Congrats and more power to you and your business. -Rick e-mail to: |

| 9th November 2006 MG | Dogs... - From: Gus's Bed Thank you for your response, much appreciated. Sounds like you have given this some thought. |
| 8th November 2006 mklein | Thanks for your concern - From: Gus's Bed I appreciate your comment, but we do not live in the house that will be the bed and breakfast. We have a private residence with our own fence and Gus spends his days sleeping on our bed's, not the hotel's. In addition, he does not bark nor does he jump. Thank you for your concern, and I hope this aleviates some of your concern. |
| 7th November 2006 MG | Dogs at a B&B - From: Gus's Bed Hello, I know that you love your dog and a B&B is really like your home - but perhaps you should consider the following: 1) some people don't like dogs 2) some people are afraid of dogs, especially ones that jump up excitedly on them (even though they may be very friendly) 3) some people are allergic to dogs 4) some people don't want to pay money to sleep on a bed that has been slept on by a dog;sorry but when I stay at a hotel like the Sheraton, I don't need to worry about someone's pets having been in the room before me or a dog sniffing me or whatever... 5) hopefully, your dog doesn't bark at night or early in the morning when people might still be trying to sleep For your consideration... Thanks for sharing - I for one will not be staying at your B&B. |
