After a very active day we finally made it to the mall and we treated ourselves to Ruby Tuesday's. The shocking thing about this excursion is that the mall was like any other mall in any Western country. Except for the loud Hindi blaring in the mall's center (some sort of talent show) it was very "normal". The contrast also shocked me, outside were very poor people in a street market while inside there were high-end fashion stores. Ironically we happened to run into Priyanka and her husband (apologies but I can't remember his name nor spell it, something close to Ashtun?). Priyanka saved the day though, she helped Maria pick out some jewelry and some outfits after Tray and I hadn't been much help. We had been demoted to watching her purse. Tray does not have or bring his laptop. Probably a good thing, he was always out on the floor talking with the team. I got out and about quite a bit too but with a computer in front of you it is easy to get sucked in to the thing.... read more

Day one of the recruiting drive was intense. By the end of the day 160 people had come through the doors. While I wasn't part of the first drive I think this round was much more organized and efficient. It was organized into several stages with each stage filtering out candidates. Stage one was a technical test, stage two was an interview with a 2 person panel. Stage three was an interview with Tray or I, and finally stage four was with HR. We paused a couple hours into it only to emphasize that if a candidate wasn't a fit the panels could excuse them as soon as they had determined that. Some observations...there weren't many women, people drove from all over (one gentleman drove 4 hours on a motorcycle to interview), lot's of good candidates. ... read more

With the boss out of town and the fact that our teams don't typically start until noon we decided to head in a little late (around 10:00). With that I decided to venture out, not sure exactly what I was going to do so I got my bright red swimming trunks and tennis shoes and headed for the beach. Security to the beach is heavy, guess the JW Marriott doesn't want to get invaded so there is a big door, a guard, badges, etc. and the sign you in and out. After giving me instructions on how to ring the bell to get back I was off.
