Porto was first on our itinerary followed by Lisbon we'll let our pictures speak for themselves....... http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Portugal/Northern/Porto/blog-17370.html Copenhagen Copenhagen would have never been on our list of travel sights if some of our best friends wouldn't have moved there earlier this year. So while we enjoyed visiting this city during our travels what we LOVED more was seeing the Giff familyThe city itself was quite small so it was easy to navigate for those reasons however you had to be EXTRA careful not to get runover by a bike. For those of y http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Denmark/Region-Hovedstaden/Copenhagen/blog-16845.html Budapest Budapest will forever be remembered in our minds as the city where we found hot stuff also known as Eros Pista Hungary paprika and as most of you know both Michael and I enjoy spicy foods. We were in heaven trying Goulash and different stews with this wonderful spice. Budapest was somewhat of a shock at first in a culinary sense as well as with the hustle of city life it was quite diff http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Hungary/Central-Hungary/Budapest/blog-16401.html Vienna Vienna is our next stop Vienna home of the Hapsburg family had more palaces than anything else. This royal family liked their residences more than their incestous relationships. We proceeded to visit as many palaces as we could our favorite was the summer residence Shoobrum Palace this of course being around 5 miles from their Winter residence Neuberg. I had to see all there was to see in http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Austria/Vienna-State/Vienna/blog-16397.html Salzburg We took the overnight train to Salzburg and the next morning we were in fairy tale land. Outside we had a beautiful view of a castle and just glorious scenery all around. Salzburg will forever be remembered as one of the most beautiful and cleanest places we have ever visited. To top off the experience of spectacular scenery we also had the BEST and I mean BEST BEER IN THE WORLD People who http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Austria/Salzburg-State/Salzburg/blog-16390.html Venice Ahhh Venice we will never forget it for both the good and the bad memories. In the good ones category we have some unforgetable panoramic shots everywhere you look we had some amazing postcards come alive in front of our eyes. We went to the Murano glass island and saw some master glass blowers at work and to top it off saw the most amazing concert one afternoon while sipping some sangria. The http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Italy/Veneto/Venice/blog-14479.html Napoli After a two hour train trip from Rome we were pleasantly surprised to find a hotel with Air conditioning AND a bathroom. Now don't get me wrong the heat of Rome was the perfect excuse for the gelato and all but the fact that we had air conditioning just made my day. Anyway guess I forgot to mention that we have taken up the European custom of a siesta in the afternoon Well this is the best eve http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Italy/Campania/Naples/blog-13007.html Florence After taking the train from Sorrento via Rome we ended up in Florence home of the Medici and center of the Renaissance... Of course we had to start with a trip to the Duomo or central cathedral which in Florencersquos case is a massive green and white marble building. Audreyrsquos take on it was it looks like itrsquos covered in giant 70rsquos kitchen tiles. It certainly was spectacula http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Italy/Tuscany/Florence/blog-14031.html Sorrento After a hectic couple of days in Naples we really needed a break so decided to take the hydrofoil directly to Sorrento and hopefully spend a few days at the beach. The weather was still as hot as it gets the only way we've been surviving is with a siesta in the afternoon.Sorrento is a small resort town jammed halfway up a cliff about an hour's ferry ride or an hour and a half's train ride from N http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Italy/Campania/Amalfi/blog-13009.html Roma Secondo Well we finally found a nice internet cafe in Florence with up to date computers for Michael's sake. So forgive us if you get a lot of blogs today Well to finish Roma.... you'll find us enjoying a bit of the sites. We visited the Castel Sant'Angelo which is basically the fortress built next to San Peters basilica so that all popes can have a fortress against plague wars etc.. It was f http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Italy/Lazio/Rome/blog-12701.html Roma Big warm Ciao from the city of Roma Well we have made the first city in our Italian journey with no major complications. Except maybe if you can call a Gelato shop next to our BB a complication. As a matter of self presevation Michael and I have agreed to keep to a one gelatto a day commitment. Unfortunately one gelatto in this city involves a cone and about 3 scoops of some of the most d http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Italy/Lazio/Rome/blog-12434.html We survived Glastonbury Well we've made it back home after an absolutely crazy weekend We arrived on Thursday afternoon after a full day of travelling on trains and buses and were greeted with a spectacular sunny afternoon. Some of our friends had arrived the previous day and had set up a great campsite just inside the main gate we wouldn't know exactly how good the site was until the next afternoon...Audrey and I t http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/United-Kingdom/England/Somerset/Glastonbury/blog-12149.html Wimbledon Well today after a 15 hour trip over we decided it would be fun to get up at 4am don't really know what we were thinking probably jet lag to go and try and get tickets for the first day of the Wimbledon tournament. It turns out that we have the patience of saints actually I learned I have the patience I always knew Michael had it after all he puts up with me. After a bus and two trains http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/United-Kingdom/England/Greater-London/Wimbledon/blog-11523.html Toronto Camden Our flight had a layover in Toronto where Audrey found time to make friends with the resident giant stuffed moose... Once we hit London after a nice six hour sleep on the plane I watched Australia get absolutely thumped in the cricket this is something the poms have been bringing up ever since at any opportunity As the afternoon continued we caught the tube down to Camden to meet up with ever http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/United-Kingdom/England/Greater-London/blog-11520.html Introduction Well today is my last day of work before we set off.
