Hi there all, Well, I do have some more pics, but nothing too different from what you've already seen. And I'm back in Canada visiting the friends and relatives, having a great time. Only a week and a day before I'm back at school in Denver though! I'm looking forward to getting back into the swing of things, start playing soccer again (though I did manage to play a bit on 3 continents this summer), etc etc etc. I'm glad you all liked the blog, and keep in touch! I'm still boycotting facebook, so e-mail remains the best way :) take [View Full Entry]

Yup, last night in Kyrgyzstan :) I'd add a few more pics, but the computers are acting up a bit. Just wanted to say that anyone in Canada who has recently moved and for whom I do not have a current phone number, please e-mail it to me! I'll be back from the 31st of August till September 7th, and I'd really like to see whoever I can. Must go finish packing etc, am looking forward to hitting Europe again and then getting back home! Hello! I got back from visiting Naryn yesterday, a lovely city nestled in the mountains in kind of the middle of the country. The weather was refreshing and cool, such a change from Bishkek, where I was completely unable to sleep last week because it was just SO HOT! But now that I'm back, for some reason, the weather smells like fall and there's a bit of a breeze, for which I am incredibly grateful. Anyways, to start. The first picture is of the Museum of Fine Arts, a very interesting building filled with a lot of wonderful modern art, but [View Full Entry]

Just noticed that they have lost all my previous entries... bit of a pain. And I don't really have the time to redo them, so I hope everyone saw them and has at least an idea of what I'm doing... Ah well, I still have all my pics, so no prob :) [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone :) Hope all is well. I have now exactly 2 weeks until I fly out (less, if we're counting hours) and am really looking forward to it. So. I had a great time last week, and the first picture shows a fantastic honeydew melon being held by a friend of mine, Ainura. To be perfectly honest, I don't love honeydew. It isn't bad, but I'd rather have cantaloupe. NOT HERE!!! These things are amazing - so sweet and you can really taste the honey if you get a good one, and honeydew will never taste the same again. Sorry, [View Full Entry]

Ok, so I'm not actually in Issyk Kul, but it is the only place in Kyrgyzstan that the Travelblog lists, I felt like I should list it as where I am at least once. And I was there for 9 days and I would have added to the blog had I not been in the least frequented area of Issyk Kul, the very small town of Tamchy. It was probably chosen as the place for the American School camp because it is much cheaper than any other town on the lake. It's beautiful! It's somewhere over 6000 feet above sea level [View Full Entry]

And another week... Very busy, as usual, and in general a good week. I met with more women from more NGOs and now have a huge list of people to call. I'm getting tons of information, but feel like I have no clue what I'll do with it all! Ah well, I guess I'll figure it out back in Colorado... So. The first few pics are from a party that one of my Russian students, Tanya, invited me to. It's the first time I've been in a Russian home (having only really met Kyrgyz people), and it was very different. [View Full Entry]

On Saturday Nazgul, myself and Azamat, Nazgul's brother-in-law's brother, spent the afternoon walking around Ala Archa National Park. It's lovely, not that far from Bishkek, and a favourite place for tourists (saw lots of climbers and other foreigners) and Kyrgyz and Russian families wanting to escape the heat. It was absolutely gorgeous, and if all of my weekends let me go to places like this, I will pretty much only live for weekends. So here are some of the pics :) [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone! Happy belated Canada Day to all and happy early Fourth of July to sundry :) I did nothing for Canada Day, which is very sad, but I did tell everyone I know that it was Canada's national day and made their lives that much better for the information. So, I have been here a week and a half. The culture shock is finally finished with (no crazy emotional roller coasters at the moment), although I still miss home etc. But I am now able to generally find my way around the city and am enjoying the food and all [View Full Entry]
