Howdy partners! Since the last blog we spent another night in KL then decided to move on to Melacca the next day. The bus journey took around 2 hours and we stayed at Seria's hostel which was very basic but the owner was so welcoming and told us to treat it as we would our own home. That evening we went out for our dinner and decided to catch another movie at the cinema inside the shopping mall, it was transformers and not bad for a kids film. The next day we decided to go and do some sightseeing and follow a walking route that is in the lonely planet guide. First stop was an art gallery and a youth museum which were ok, well the museum was rubbish and the art gallery was not ... read more

Ok hi once more this latest installment is from Perhentian Islands to Kuala Lumpur, where we are at the moment. After leaving the islands we were dropped off in Kuala Besut, a small village by the sea. We were planning on catching a bus directly to KL but the only departure that day was at midnight. We didnt want to hang about for 10 hours so we got a bus to Kuala Terranganu instead, which is on the way to KL anyway. We then wanted to get straight on another bus to KL but they were all full until the following morning, so we found a hotel to stay over. The hotel was minging and the bedsheets were filthy so we asked them to change them for us, which they did thank god. We were ... read more

The journey from Cameron Highlands to Kuala Besut Jetty was an 8 hour journey in a minivan that holds 10 people. There were 10 of us plus 9 big backpacks! A bit of tight sqeeze. The start of the journey was not so bad, as i said before its really cool up in the highlands but after an hour so you caould feel the temperature creeping up as we got lower and lower. Luckliy for us, three of the girls were not going the whole way and that got us a bit of extra leg room but we were all happy to get out of there and on to the boat. The boat was a Fast Boat - thats what it said on the front - and we had to choose which of the beaches ... read more

Hello again - this time we are doing two blogs at once - one for the Cameron Highlands, and the second for the Perhentian Islands. We havn't updated for a while and this way we can keep the pictures seperate. Sorry for the delay, we actually wrote these blogs a few days ago but have had difficulties getting the pictures online. Anyway here they are... So after we left Penang we were hoping to get a bus across the country to Kuala Besut where we could then catch the boat to the Perhentian Islands. We arrived at the bus station about 1pm and the bus didnt leave until 9pm so we got the old book out and decided we would stop off in the Cameron Highlands first. This turned out to be a good choice ... read more

Hello again, we have been up to so much since the last blog its getting to the point where we cant be bothered doing them but we will so we can be reminded of everything when we get back home and of course so you guys can read what we have been getting up to. On the night of the last blog we had arrived in Krabi and decided to go for a drink in a bar and play pool. We found this little place where the locals play winner stays on and you put your name on the board if you want to have a try. Laurie had a few games with them then i had a game and won! As over here if you pot the black you have to say which pocket ... read more

Well hello once again. This latest installment takes us from Koh Tao on to Koh Phangan, then to Phuket via Surat Thani, Phang-nga and finally Krabi. Quite a lot of travelling in the last week or so, firstly we took the boat to Koh Phangan the morning after our last blog. We decided that we would head for the north of the island to a place called Hat Khuat, or Bottle Beach to the farang. It sounded a bit more chilled out than Hat Rin where all the partying is. The only way to reach Bottle Beach is by boat, so we took a taxi up to Chakara-something and then hired a long tail boat for 100baht each. Bottle beach is a bay about 800m long which has three bungalow hotels along the beach front ... read more

June 14th 2007

Hello again, this time from Koh Tao. Since we last updated you we have continued on down the coast towards Malaysia. We had decided that we wanted to go to Ban Krut, a little beach town where we had seen a nice looking hostel on the internet. We couldnt get there in one journey from Hua Hin so we stopped over in Pratchuap Kiri Khan for the night. Not much to report there it was a little fishing town we didnt bother exploring too much. We had some dinner at a restaurant next to the hotel we found. It was funny because the English menu wasn't translated very well, so you got choices like 'fresh seasonal' and other nonsense. We tried to ask whether it was fruit or vegatables but didn't get much luck. So ... read more

We thought we would do a quick update today since we needed a computer to transfer all of our 600 pictures to cd so we can take some more. 600!! I admit there not all great but at least we have a good record of what has happened so far because my memory is terrible. So we left Hua Hin yesterday morning and took the bus to Pranburi. The bus was great, and by that i mean really old and made out of that material they use to make props at the theatre. It looks like metal but you dont want to test it out with a crash. I love it. Proper rickety old bangers. It adds to the atmosphere. So we got to Pranburi and jumped on a Sangthaew ( pick up truck) to ... read more

So much has happened over the last week or so that we really cant remember or be bothered to write it all but we'll do our best. So here goes.. Some day last week (its getting hard to keep count now) We left Shanghai after staying there for about a week. We both ... read more

Well we actually just wrote a long blog and got most of the way through it when Donna slipped up somehow and now its all gone! nevermind. Anyway heres a list of what we wrote about and well fill in the details later. We cant be bothered typing it all again - its really hot and ive got a sweat on. Friday - Went to the Bund area. Very nice views of Pudong and the Pearl TV Tower. Walked down Nanjing Road, busy shopping street. Had a lasagne and drank Becks and red wine - drunkedly decided to sneak up to the top of Radissons hotel for a view from the 47th Floor bar - hence Mission Impossible Saturday - Changed to our new Hostel nearer Shanghai centre. Went to Frenchtown and drank beer surrounded ... read more
