EXTRA! EXTRA! X-mas Cheer Needed in Nica! Pronto! Jingle bells, Jingle bells, jingle all the way....
Feliz Navidad y Prospero Ano y Felizidad
Wow you seriously need a good ol' dose of Christmas spirit. I guess that's easy for me to say, but I promise, cheer is on the way!
Ha ha, that rhymed like a Christmas poem!
well, yeah, good to get online sometimes... and get to "get outa yourself" and your little dusty world, huh?
Am anxious to see how your older class went for you. I'd just bet that they'll end up being your very favorite challenge in the end! Still got plans for New Years on the beach? Sure am envying you THAT one right now. Brrrr cold up here (but feelin' VERY Christmasy!). Heading up to get Granddad Fri. AM. Wish us luck. High up there to be 0*, Cindy says!
Excellent! Good Job, Ms.Baade! 4-6 sounds like the perfect class to begin your teaching career a la Nicaragua. Hope your 7-12's went even better today. How long can S stay with you for her visit? No chance of a transfer to your site w/you? ("______loves company")? Sure is feeling like Xmas up here w/high today of 14*! Mostly ice, touch of snow. Thinking of your rain w/a smile, but picturing you, here, outside on a sled ride!
yes, good good memories wow. Well, yes, as I peek through some of your pictures taken over your last few years,...I see our ol' orb shrinking through your eyes! There is still PLENTY left for you to do and see, but your generation sure puts on the miles! Ha! Molly, I *WILL* find your Chinese dictionary and get it on its way to you MONDAY. We love you and miss you!
WHEW! About missed this one! OK. YES!! I'd skipped this entry in the midst of your earlier one and your email and your pictures!! Sooooo glad I've read it, though, as your thoughts on your staying busy mirror my own.
Earthworms...YES! An excellent beginning...... And, English classes for the masses! Well, why not!? Good call! Keep us posted!
hmmmmmm........ Hmmmm, my Molly. I'm not "feeling" your goal-oriented enthusiasm right now. You don't WANDER particularly well, I think. So, what to charge into? Gardens? Livestock feed? All else will fall into place with the onset of even a small-sized goal to overtake and accomplish, right? LOVE the pictures. NICE closet...
er,....I mean, room!! ;) Yeah, the school room sounds good. Close enough to water, though? XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO
christmas in nica ben - yes, they celebrate christmas here. and my family has a tree and lights on the house, but it´s not the same as at home, which is what i mean by ¨if i can´t celebrate...¨ because it´s hard being abroad for the holidays. and i would LOVE to bake a pie, if only anyone in my community had an oven.... and of course i don´t mind that you read and comment - if i didn´t want it public it wouldn´t be on a blog, verdad?
Christmas I thought the only Latin American group that does not believe in christmas are those in the Jehovah's Witnesses religion (They are called Testigos de Jehova). So if your host family is Catholic then they for sure believe in Christmas, However economical condition might be the reason why they dont to ornaments and stuff in their house. You know Cristmas is a very expensive time of the year here in USA and even worst in Nicaragua. This could be an good opportunity for you to have a cultural exchange with them by showing them a little of your christmas something simple like putting up a little christmas tree in the house or maybe baking a pie for them. They would appreciate that. Anything you do just try to enjoy it as much as you can. Happy holidays, hopefully you dont mind me reading your blogs and leaving you notes :)
Interesting Culture! Yes, Miss Anthropologist, very interesting observations and study of Nica culture!
I'm glad that you were able to attend Isaac's graduation and revisit Moncha's loving household. Suppose there's no way you could PURCHASE and MOVE that comfy bed, huh?! Just maybe, when you find your OWN place up on the mountain, it will have a better bed!? Thanks for the great info via blog! xo

wow well, no help from me unfortunately. definitely over my head. that's awesome, though! i can't wait till you accomplish it so i can brag about your work to people. let me know if you need a paper written about how your work is interconnected to Nica culture or something like that.
You ARE your Father's Daughter! Ha! You and the police Captain...yep, sounds like what your Dad would tell you to do! Just watch it a teeny bit, though, as we want you doing something totally rewarding while there (as opposed to sitting in the clink!). Am so glad you got to spend some good times with other Volunteers! Soon now, I need to get some info to you about other various Nica acquaintances that you should look up in "spare time"!
It's on the way! Your Dad had me mail to you his MOTHER EARTH NEWS "bible".
From just a glance at the front cover, looks like it may have some good info for you. Let him know, OK? Hmmm...funding....yes, the next good question, for sure. Wi$h I had a good idea already, but don't. Yet. :)
