Having finally made it back from Rurrenbaque (finaly made it on a plane the next morning!),we check into our cool hostel- The Adventure Brew- strange but it seems that a Bolivian who is a mechanical engineer had caught onto what a hostel needs- free beer each night (created by the engineer/owner), and unlimited pancakes in the morning..one catch..the place was still under construction...so as u are there having a shower, there are these small Bolivians, working outside your window, occasionaly trying to peer through the foddy glass!! I had gotten quite worried when my flight got cancelled, as i was due [View Full Entry]

The best place to view wildlife in Bolivia…surrounded by jungle and rivers. I had high hopes!! Someone should have, however, warned me about the 15hour bus journey getting there! Crammed in the right back corner, with a family of Bolivians and their extended family for 15 hours is uncomfortable. Not been able to open the jammed window was suffocating. Being eaten alive by invisible mosquitoes and god knows what else was enough to convince me that I was definitely getting a flight back!!! Day1 Straight from the 15hour bus trip, onto a jeep for the next 3 hours that covered the [View Full Entry]

This has become the de facto capital of Bolivia- beautiful city surrounded by hills with houses and mansions hugging the mountain-side catering for a rapidly growing population. Having arrived from Sucre by overnight bus that left my body numb with cold as the roof window refused to close above me…we made it to our even colder hostel called Hotel Torino- Which happens to make the best coffee in Bolivia. But as we sat down savour the body thawing coffee, we could here the music outside jiving to the sounds of Ricky Martin´s ¨She Bangs, She bangs….ooh baby, the way she moves, [View Full Entry]

Sucre, the constitutional capital of Bolivia- is a beautiful city, surrounded by mountains, european styled houses and cobbled stoned side streets. travelling in our group of six mario (australia), alex (england), helen(england), rachael (Florida,US), Lacy(US) and Pierce(england)- we hire taxis from Potosi to Sucre and arrive at 9:30pm. our taxi arrived a half hour earlier- it seems he thought that it was a rally race, or that the coccaine police were behind him!! our reservations had been cancelled for some reason, and we were left wondering the streets tryin to find a hostel- finally found one next to the awakening stench [View Full Entry]

As soon as we arrived in Uyuni, we couldn’t wait to leave…the place really had nothing going for it. So after 4days of being cramped in a jeep, we still considered another 6 hours by bus a good alternative to staying around this town. Finding all the buses fully booked till the morning, we did the only thing possible- we hired a private bus! Grabbe 10 peoploe in total, and organised our own way there. We had some locals even tryin to get out and offered to pay us 30bolivianos each to get on. Now this is the strange thing- driving [View Full Entry]

Day 1- After a long pause waiting in our jeep for our guide to join us, we finally head off on our 4 day tour through what is said to be one of the most beautiful place sin the world. It turns out that our delay was due to the company briefing or guide on what we´re about see. they had been photocopyin all the papers detailing all the sites that we are gong to, so that he would be able to read them out to us when we hit our destinations! it turns out that it was his first tour [View Full Entry]

I automatically fell in love with the Bolivan people. short, stocky people. dark skinned and sporting round rimmed hats that were functionally useless!!! but looked great!! We arrived in Tupiza in Friday...knackered! starving, we found a popular hangout- there is not much to be said about Bolivan food apart from it need taste!!! this country does not know anything about salt. food is bland and ordinary...alot of chicken!!! not evry impressed after all the steaks i had been eating in Argentina!! This was the area where Butch cassidy and The Sundance Kid made their last stand! they were killed in Tupiza, [View Full Entry]

After a long 11 hour bus journey, i arrived to Salta. stayed in a hostel called ¨terra occulta youth hostel¨...yeah don´t understad the name either! I had heard so much about Salta, but after partyin so hard the previous few weeks, i just couldn´t fathom getting out and trekking or doing anythng remotely physically challenging. The train to the clouds ( had been shut down, so our best views were from atop Cerro San Bernardo...no more walking!! we took the telefrico up! stunning views over the surrounding mountain-side as the sun was setting! Salta is one of the most southern cities [View Full Entry]

Cordoba...a university city. smaller than Buenos Aires, but with an awesome nightlife...yes i should have really given myself a break after those 2 weeks in BA!! I wasn´´t even meant to be in Cordoba. Alex, a friend that i made on the trip convinced me to join him in going there. He was following a girl that he was in love with! having arrived at Tango Hostel after a 14hour bus journey, we find out that she had left 1.5days prior!! Alex´s heart was broken...well not really...he moves on quite quickly when it comes to girls...he´s quite a character...barrel of laughs [View Full Entry]
