Europe » United Kingdom May 31st 2009

To Southport we drove at 31st of May 2009. We heard previously there is a long pier and very wide beach during outflow. We got there soon after outflow and eventually we walked towards sea above quarter. When we got to sea I reminded myself and to my friends Mad Max film - everything around us looked like scenery from this masterpiece movie. Especially shells of dead mussels, everywhere were many of them. Afterwards we directed to pier. we came back to town to get to pier from land side. There were some motorcycles and we spent a lot of time to watch them (-: Afterwards we were walking along the pier towards sea and we noticed we had to cross over the small lake (it calls Marine Lake) before we got to the end of ... read more

To Formby I drove with friend at 30th of May 2009 to see sea, coniferous forest and red squirrels. We got there without any obstructions and firstly we directed ourselves to beach. At that time was outflow and we walked quite long before we reached sea water. It was increadible salty, not like in Baltic sea... Afterwards we ate ice creams (only these are available there) and we were walking through coniferous forest with hope to see red squirrel, but we couldn't see onyone. From there when look towards sea you might see the Welsh coast. Wheather wasn't so bad, it didn't raining. Sorry no pictures, because I forgot camera.... read more

Caernarfon Castle is probably most known medieval monument in Wales. Works had starter short after Wales was conquered by English king Edward I. This castle - with couple of different ones: Conwy, Harlech and Beaumaris - had a specific assignment. It was flanking undefeated Welsh people in Snowdonia and take a control over the coast. This castle in typical example of medieval fortress and it was used as a model to several computer games. Despite of Caernarfon castle is a ruin inside were organised some interesting exhibitions (in contrast to Conwy castle). While we were visited there at the castle courtyard had been a mediaval knights tournament performance. It seems quite real and obviously most of the visitors assembled and crowded together to see an event. Nice and colorful performance. Caernarfon is bilingual and we haerd ... read more

To Great Orme (Y Gogarth in Welsh) we got from Llandudno's pier. Road curls along the cliff and when we drive or walk there we might admire cliff's rocks and open sea. Most of the cliffs are rarely overgrowning any vegetation but we saw some goats and obviously sheep. :D At the opposite end of the peninsula we found a restaurant, just the small one, nothing exciting, typical one in UK. From that restaurant we can see nice landscape of Great Orme peninsula and feel fresh sea wind. Afterwards we had a lunch we decided to climb th the top of the cliff to see more and take any afford to being sweaty. From the top of the hill we might admire very nice view - if we see to west we can see Welsh coast ... read more

In Llandudno anyone shouldn't get into trouble with park car for free. We didn't pay because we parked just into the town centre. Llandudno is located amongst hills and we noticed Wales is very clean, no litter over the street like in England. Town looks similar to any town from southern Europe - palms were planted at the fronts of many hotels, especially at the promenade. Generally Llandudno is colorful and bilingual - pretty much of its population speak in Welsh. We had a lunch in one the restaurants and after we directed to Llandudno's pier. Afterwards we directed out from town and straight up to Great Orme/Y Gogarth peninsula. Beware of seagulls overthere. :D They are really big and very greedy for your food. :L ... read more

Europe » United Kingdom » Wales » Conwy August 31st 2008

Conwy Castle is located nearby bridge over the bay. It is visible from distance because of it has big monumental stone built out figure. This castle had been built by king Edward I after defeating the Welsh people in 1283. First lord of Conwy castle was king's son Edward II. British tradition of calling all of heirs to the throne have roots in Conwy. This castle looks as typical castle if I can say like than, it has no any bizarre dressings or architecture forms. Mighty city walls have saved up to present times. Inside we can admire just the ruins, there are no exhibition. Visitors can walk over whole of castle area and climb upstairs to top all of numerous castle towers. Town Conwy is nice, visitor can walk around and do shopping. I bought ... read more

To Chester I came in April 2008 with some friends. This town is a bit similar to York and first settlement had found there during Roman Empire had been ruling England. Europe » United Kingdom » England » North Yorkshire » York March 16th 2008

I travelled to York in March 2008 in tourist purpose. I have seen there The Mister - inside and dungeons with excavation, ground floor with altar - the excavation reveals settlements and foudation from Roman Empire times to later medieval and finally I went to top to admire the York's skyline - I had to overcome a big number of narrow stairs. Minster is really huge and will stay there long time. Afterwards I walked a bit along old town streets and I bought some items. Highly recommended to visit - York is one of rare places in England whose haven't turned to shops and it still remains original architecture. One of the most remarcable location is The Shambles - this is remained original medieval street with characteristic floor and craftsmen houses. York has city walls ... read more
