Hi everyone We have now compleated our last big trip before we come back home to England. On the 1st August we all got in the hire car and headed for Sydney. We decided to drive to Sydney so we could get to see New South Wales along the way. It took us 2 days. Our road song is now 'Sweet Home Alabama' by Kid Rock, god we made a racket. Last night we experianced our first ever rugby match ( or football as they call it here ) We watched the Brisbane Broncos against the Sharks at the stadium in Brisbane. I think i am now converted ! Rugby is so much better live and actually a lot of fun to watch. Ellen loved it, clapping and cheering her little heart out. She especially liked the cheerleaders, and the fireworks that went of everytime they scored a goal or a try. Zoe has now turned the big 30 !!!!! We all had a lovely day. We started the day having a lovely breakfast at a cafe called 'salt'. Then the girls went off for some pampering. I had a manicure and a french nail polish, zoe had a leg treatment and Amanda had an exfoliating treatment all over. For the evening, tables were booked for 20 at a restaurent called 'Sprout' I know it an extremly appealing name hey !!!! but the food was great. G'day Everyone We have just got back from 4 days staying at the Ayres Rock Resort in the Northern Territory. It was an amazing trip. I know the photo's will not do the sights justice but i hope you like them. Me and Ellen are now feeling like seasoned travellers, one flight to Sydney then another to Ayres Rock - no problem :) whats 5 hours on a plane eh !! Hi everyone Since i did my last travel blog Amanda has now arrived ! We have shown Amanda around a few places we have been, which have included Lone Pine to see the koala's and kangaroo's (Amanda had a phot done cuddling a koala). Hi everyone Ellen has had a great 6th Birthday. We were all up at 6am so she could open all of her presents. Thank you so much for sending some all the way from England, and of course from those in Australia. Today Ellen chose to go to Alma Park Zoo which is about a 45 minute drive from our Aussie Home. She had a great time feeding the kangaroo's, donkey's, sheep. We also had lots of laugh's watching all the different types of monkey's that were there. Today was the one we were all looking forward to. Snorkelling in The Great Barrier Reef. It was a day to remember for both good and bad reasons. We all boarded the boat very excited about the day ahead, had a glass of orange juice and a few bickies and off we went. Everyone was advised by the crew to try the herbal sea sickness ginger tablets as it was a bit windy therefore it may be a bit choppy. Today was our Trek North safari. We was picked up by our tour guide called 'Wayne' in his safari outfit and off we went in our 4x4 which looked more like a little mini bus. There was about 10 other people on the bus, half were English and half were dutch (we think). Ellen was the only child onboard. Wayne knew everything about everything and he had a funny way of making the last word of every sentence last for ages ! Today we had a trip up the sky rail. It is 133 feet at the highest point and travels 4.7 miles along the canopy of rainforest which is called the 'Barron Gorge National Park'. The views were amazing, it never felt as high as it actually was because the trees are so huge although Ellen was clear that 'we are not allowed to stand up'. Ellen likes her safety rules :) We stopped at two rainforest stations 'Red Peak and Barron falls' where we could get out of the cable car and have a walk around. Today we travelled from Brisbane to Cairns by 'Sundlander Train'. A journey that took 33 hours. The train was great we went straight to our little cabin which had one long seat and two other beds folded up against the wall. We even had a little sink which was quite impressive in such a small space - that folded up against the wall as well ! The toilet was located down one end of the corridor and the shower down the other. We all loved the train, going for a little walk down to the buffet car or the snack bar [View Full Entry]
