Okay so we scrapped our plans to head into the desert as it was nearly 50 degrees celsius in Rajasthan with the heat index. So we headed for the hills! On a bus! With beds..... So the thing is about the so called sleeper bus is that it's still a bus and you spend about half the time airborne because the drivers are freaking crazy. On the drive up the mountainside, I saw no fewer than 3 people getting sick (not in our bus thankfully), but I kind of wish we had stayed in the sleeper compartment rather than move to a chair, because you couldn't see how absolutely insane the driver was. That aside, we made it fine, and the temperature was much nicer in the hills. We took a couple of days to relax ... read more

Ok, first are some more photos from Agra as we spent an extra day by hiring a driver to take us to see the rest of the sights in town! So on tuesday night, we were able to catch a train (finally) from Agra to Jaipur. This time we were in the air conditioned chair car, and I think that we're finally getting used to the heat, as Alex and I were both cold. Or so I thought... Jaipur has been, for the last 3 days, 42-43 degrees celsius. According to google, 43 degrees Celsius = 109.4 degrees Fahrenheit. So, it's hot. Really really hot. Yesterday, Alex and I woke up early to walk around the formerly pink old city. Now, it's kind of pink, but we were expecting a little more. The city here is ... read more

We made it to the city of love! The taj Mahal is AMAZING...and HUGE..and fabulous and white!!! It is a relief to be out of Delhi and not hassle with the walas/touts. Guatemala has clearly prepped me for this trip...lots of bargaining and firm NOs. Rich has the MOST AMAZING pajama and kurta (traditional men's wear...the shirt is at the laundry (and by that i mean sink/soap at our hotel room) but the pants he wore in today's TAJ MAHAL pictures. I am turning into quite the collector of salwar kameezes (please see photos for HOT PINK addition). OH you won't believe the MONKEYS i wish we could get a picture but they jump out in front and then dart off VERY QUICKLY at first I thought it was a crazied dog but then BAM monkey ... read more

Ok, so we flew from Nashville BNA to the airport on Long Island via BWI, and that was no biggie (except for a stressful delay in Baltimore). But then came the cross-New York train AHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! We made it just in time to board our flight to Frankfurt on Air India from Newark, easily then making our connection to New Delhi. This is where our adventure began. Being tired and not wanting to haggle with taxi drivers immediately off of the plane, I thought it best to buy a pre-paid taxi slip. A driver found us, and Alex and I were happily on our way into Delhi. The taxi driver was SO NICE that he gave us a 2 hour tour of delhi, because the road was "closed" to Pahar Ganj (where our hotel was), saying we ... read more
