Not much has changed.. - From: The amazing forest people of Sumatra
Hi :) I found your blog by accident, and now I'm hooked! I live in Ottawa, Canada and also have a severe case of wanderlust. I visited Indonesia in 1992 and had many good laughs at this post. I *loved* Bukit Lawang, but I must say that I was shocked to hear that the town has grown to over 2,000 people. There were less than 100 when I was there. But rest assured, the rickety bridge was still there...and the orangutans were still amazing. I remember those g-d little doors in Lake Toba as well (and how many times I smashed my head on them!). Not much has changed sadly, in terms of the Indonesians ripping off the tourist. Must be a lot worse now after all that's happened though. I love your blog and will look forward to reading about your travels regularly!

Enjoy the remaining of your trip in Malaysia - From: Afternoon tea, strawberries and walking around the cool Cameron Highlands
Hi Andrew, I have read your travel blog with interest, in particular about Malaysia as this is my home country. I come from Ipoh. I am not sure whether you would be stopping by for some pomelo or white coffee. In any case, I hope you enjoy the remaining days in Malaysia.

Hello, I really enjoyed reading about your travel to the Gili Islands. I am heading to Bali/Lombok/Gilis next week and am having a tough time trying to find a reputable company that does boat transfers from senggigi gili trawangan. Any recommendations? Cheers, Amanda

nice reports! - From: Hunting Komodo by camera
Hi Andrew, I've just read through your reports of Indonesia, very enjoyable stuff! We're going to do a very similar trip starting June 1st (java->bali->flores->lombok) before heading to Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand, so it's great to see the pictures and hear the stories. Sounds like you're having a great time, well mostly anyway. I'm jealous of the rest of the trip you have done and will still do as well. I've been in Australia for the last 12 months so it takes something to make me jealous :) Hope you continue to enjoy yourself and I'll look forward to the next blog! Cheers, Martin

Great photos and nice to hear your stories in the jungle. I think it good to have a expert local guide's accompany for trekking, as they are farmiliar with the area and conditions. But it would be greater when they ensure me a happy tour till the end of it. http://www.OurExplorer.com local guides, local wisdom

It looks like you are after a job with Lonely Planet? There's some great reading and pics in the blog that take me back a few years and are beginning to make my mouth water. I think you said that Tikal was on your hit-list, if so, then make sure you listen out for the Howler Monkeys. If you are going there via Belize City it will introduce you to the land that time forgot! I'll continue to follow the adventure with envy. Regards, Phil

Is there a travel guide being written? - From: Into the Zapotec Heartland
How do Chappers. Sounds like the trip is going very well so far. Apologies for missing your leaving do I was in Dundee instead! This is a rather in depth blog, are you being paid for your travel memoirs or something? If not you should be it's great and I for one am very jealous. Hope you enjoy the Yuctan I was there about 6 or 7 years ago, some fantastic sights especially Tulum an old fortress right on the coast and inland from there there is an old Mayan city called Coba, Coba is in the middle of the jungle, and a totally different experience from the other ruins. I think it is largest set of ruins in Mexico. Much better than Chitchen Itza which is full of tourists. Have fun. Dan

Oops.... did i spell that title wrong? Pleased to finally see your 1st batch of photo's wor kid!! They are stunning. Espesially the Pyramids. I'm a closet geek!! I was kind of hoping you could bring me back a souvenir, i dont know... like some rocks or dirt in a tin like that guy in Saving Private Ryan. But i'm aware that space in your backpack is limited so don't worry. Anyway the burning question that i know most people will be dying to know the answer to......Hows the underwear situation going? Have you changed your nappy yet or is your 1st set still going strong? Dont need the graphic deails but i'm interested all the same. Glad you didn't loose your credit card (that would have been one lucky bastard finding Prudhoe's answer to Bill Gates plastic) Also pleased to hear you've made it to day 7 without being robbed or worse..... only Seven hundred and twenty three days to go. I think your diary is extremely well written bud.... keep up the good work!! Nowt really to report back here other than Connor still refuses to walk.. although he can now stuff three fingers up one nostril, and he has became consumed with interest in his tadger (think i'll keep those photo's for girlfriends to come) (hopefully girlfriends!!!) But yeah nowt much gan on kidda. Lookin forward to your next update mate. Keep it real !!
