HAMPTON COURT: This palace was once the home of Henry VIIIth. A spectacular palace with beautiful gardens and mew trees. Unfortunately we were not allowed to take pics inside the palace, but Jilli managed to sneak just one of me standing in the hallway of the State Rooms. I lost count of how many rooms in each wing, long hallways, high ceilings, embroidered murals in every room, intricate details on posts or walls and ceilings. There was even a maze on the grounds, it took Vernon and I 5 minutes to complete...its not all that big but nonetheless exciting. COVENTRY: [View Full Entry]

Rightio! Apologies for not updating the travel blog. have been working and funnily enough...enjoying it!! Schools are definitely different from Australia and New Zealand but thats because the cultural element in schools are diverse and makes it all the more interesting. Have met hundreds of kiwis but hardly any aussies. Well, not a lot to report. Unfortunately we couldn't make it to Greece to see Rietta because I was looking after her cousin and house sitting for her so it didn't quite work out for us, however I will be going next month to do her gig. I did a [View Full Entry]

THURSDAY 8 MARCH Another late rise this morning….can’t get out of this routine of 3am toilet call and lay awake until 5am. The neighbours cat came in to my room to greet me this morning - smart cat really, he can push the door open with his head and swing it open with his paw. He thinks I’m a walking can opener but I only feed our cat foxy. i’m sick too - damn! Been trying to avoid getting sick but better now than next week when I start work. Keep passing in and out of sleep during the day. Had [View Full Entry]

Its been crazy these past two weeks! We did a tour of london last weekend, it was fantastic - snapped over 500 pics of beautiful buildings and scenery. The tour was over two days - only now i wish we wrote down the names of the places we saw cos' now we have pics but don't remember place names. Ray if you're reading this I know you're nodding your head in disgust, but your probably not surprised..hehe. Daniel (the guy we live with) is an actor and writer - he wrote a play based on his life with Rietta...how sweet...opening night [View Full Entry]

Hi All I'm sitting outside writing this blog entry...people who know me well will know why I'm crazy enough to sit outside in the cold. I think i'm immuned to the cold now anyway! Monday morning we were up with a lark for our interview with Teach London Agency in the city. As usual, Jillian is impaitiently waiting for me to get organised but I knew we had plenty of time to get lost...which we did....but we got there on time. We start work Monday as supply teachers - so we're baby sitting basically and getting paid good money to do [View Full Entry]

In London

Europe » United Kingdom » England » Greater London
London - Friday 16th February 2007 Almost 8 hours on the plane from Dubai, we arrive in Heathrow London. As expected, the airport was crowded and the weather cool and crisp. We queued for visa entry for almost an hour but well worth the wait just to see customs stamp our passports for approval. Last doors out of customs and into the arrivals lounge, hard to contain the excitement of seeing Rietta after 7 years. Settled into our new abode in Isleworth, Middlesex, London. The house is nestled behind the busy streets of Isleworth, walking distance to train, bus and local [View Full Entry]

Brunei - Dubai

Welcome to Brunei
Welcome to Brunei
Jillian at Brunei Airport
One night in Brunei was long enough! Jillian and I stayed in the hotel room away from the over crowded streets due to the town rehearsal for National Day this Friday. The city centre was filled with locals, mostly students in colourful uniforms and flags. The buildings were stunning, especially the mosques which we desperately tried to get into but unfortunately turned away because we're not muslim!!! Well, it was worth a try. Met a school band in town and asked a couple of the kids to pose in a picture with me...they seemed rather excited that we were foreigners. I [View Full Entry]

Hey Everyone!! This is the first installment of my treacherous trip!! So far I left Australia this morning (14th) at 1pm… only a few tears. *sniff, sniff* Got onto my flight without too many hassles - Sat down and watched TV and ate food for six hours. Then at around 7pm, we tried to get off the flight and into Brunei…. However Rose and I had a little problem when we realised they would let her through, but not me!! Argh!! I had to get a visa cause I’m Aussie, but since Rose is NZ she didn’t have to…. What’s with [View Full Entry]
