Real Great Review for Shekhawati Paintings - From:
hello Lin Hunt It was really nice to read your review of the Shekhawati and its Painted Havelis .... in fact what ever you have been able to see is tip of the iceberg ... all these fresco paintings and the fabulous architecture is spread all over the area in the towns of Mukungarh, Jhunjhunu, Alsisar, Malsisar, Mahansar, Ramgarh, Rajgarh, Churu, Ratangarh, Bikaner, Sujangarh, Sardarshahar, Taranagar, Ratannagar. ...... The landscaping of the sand dunes of the area are also worth visiting & enjoying as well as the little vegetation what you can see ... and its a specialty of the vegetation that more the heat more exotic are the colors of the flower which bloom at the peak of the summer. Being from the area myself, all I can say is if one really has an eye for the above, this region is more then worth a life time.

red string bracelets! - From: Pilgrims in Pushkar
We bought red string bracelets - actually enough for 1000 bracelets for a couple of rupee in Bundi - as we were thought it might stop the pestering. Worked well for the religious pilgrims - didn't have the same effect on the shop keepers however! xx Linny

Pushkar - From: Pilgrims in Pushkar
We spent a couple of days here and enjoyed the "quietness"of the place...although there were a lot of westerners there. found it interesting that you couldn't eat or drink certain things but "medicinal" herbs were readly available. The trance music was a bit much for me in the evenings. We did hike up to each of the mountains and overlooked the town and wonder what it would be like when the annual camel fair came to town. But I did buy some beautiful silver bracelets there. Once we had out red string bracelts on we were safe from hagglers, etc. I am grateful to you as I seem to be reliving our trip and reviving some memories.....be safe, Ros.

Jain temples - From: Marble pillars at Ranakpur
I have to agree with you - we were also recommended to visit these temples and it was well worth the visit. We stayed two night here and day at the temples - an amazing sight - quite easy to just sit, relax and observe the surroundings. We found it to be a very peaceful place - did you read the conditions of entry for women on the back of your ticket......women are not allowed to enter at certain times of the month......not sure how the Indians would police that condition. Regards, Ros.
