Phonetical Thai I also used Phonics to learn Thai and now we have adapted the English style of learning Phonics to use at my school (www.beyc.co.th). We had to battle a little bit to get some parents to accept our way of teaching but the children thrive learning it our way. Just like in phonics we would teach s a t p i n we started with the most common Thai consonants and vowels and the children learnt to blend from the start. This can't be done learning the Thai way. All our kindergarten kids are well above the level for their age group. One of the kids sat in the office the other day reading the Office Mate magazine while he waited for his Mum to pick him up after school. Very impressive. If only the Thai Education System would catch up a little.
Just cleaning up some old computer stuff, and hadn't read this entry in its entirety...wow. I've always been interested in doing something like this, but never make the time, plus, I'm a little nervous! You really inspire me. Are you still in Boulder? Really hope you're doing well, and hope to see you sometime soon.

name of tailor? your dress is beautiful! i want to get a formal dress made for a black tie wedding i am going to.
what is the name of the tailor you went to? and how are the clothes holding up a year later?
Lovely read - nice prep Thanx for a lovely read. I've booked myself for a shorter (non-structured) silent mediation retreat and this made a lovely preparation. Loved your little insights and your light sense of humour.
Oooh, you might be on to something there! I often got the impression that I was in one of those books when I was weighing my options, especially in transportation situations. A whole series . . .I like it!
fav I think this might be my favorite one yet! I think you should name your travel guide book - Choose Your Own SE Asia Adventure....then we can complete a whole series of locations.
Ditto on the whole blog, well written! And I love that they have named the Banana Pancake Trail. Exactly as you said, spot on. But oh how I miss it so sometimes... :)
hahah I love this! Definitely hear ya on the personal space...my favorite was spooning with a 50 year old Laos woman (because it was the only way to fit) on the 'bed bus' to the south. Quite the experience!
I was craving sticky rice the other day and finally got it! There is an Indonesian Festival going on here right now and I had some white and black sweet sticky rice...heaven!
I should have saved some for people at home- I didn't even think of it! I was so embarassed about passing them out that I threw the rest away. Except for one that I have stuck to my laptop, but I filled in the red shorts with marker to make it decent!
whity pasty legs Umm, i wish this blog was like Facebook and I could un-tag the truly unflattering picture of myself in my bathing suit....thanks....haha.
