I liked looking at ALL the pics! - From:
OK, I love these pictures! It turns out I was a dork and missed half of them the first time I looked at this b/c I didn't click on the "Next" button to see the next page! *Sigh* Blonde moment! Anyway, the castle is beautiful, like from a fairytale. :) I got to tour a castle in Finland, but it was mostly empty and so rather stark and cold. Looks like this one was more fun! Glad you're having a good time.

I am excited to see you when you get home! Not only that I am so happy for you that you know what you want to do now. I think that alone makes the trip totally worth it. I can't wait to see you. Good luck in the rest of your teaching and with your travels!

That is Awesome!!!! - From:
Incredible!!! We will all have to get together and the ladies can all surf. Very cool. On a side note, Why is it that kids never seem to mind and actually try to get completely covered in as much sand as possible? That sounds like one of the most unpleasant feelings to an adult. Love it! Great videos too!

Travellling outside the west - From:
I too was under prepared when I visited (abroad) India. Specifically, I had braced myself for the poverty, but not the extent of the begging, pleading and even opportunism that logically goes hand-in-hand with abject poverty. Of course you can't explain to someone who is missing limbs and is wearing rags for clothes that you are traveling on a "budget:" that means nothing to them. What I eventually did in lieu of giving money was offer a prayer (in Arabic for Muslims) and a blessing of "peace" in Urdu or Hindi or Tamil where appropriate. Maybe this just made my conscious feel better but I felt that it was impossible and impractical to give every single beggar my money. Addressing them let them know I was not ignoring them and empathized with their plight, even if I could not offer a monetary solution.

I think it's like living in Idaho.. Mr and Mrs. Idaho don't get the good potatoes they get the same crappy ones they do in Phoenix or wherever.. Only McDonalds gets the good ones =)

cleaning - you cant escape it! - From:
All that way and the drudgery of cleaning blights your life - unbelievable! Sounds like you are already getting used to your new lifestyle - and the bungalow for £10 a night would keep me there for a few weeks. However, sounds like I need to get some table tennis practise in before I set off... regards Mark

Hi Ray and John - From:
Lovely weather you are having at 33 degrees. Ours is more of a 10 - in the shade of course. Your car is beautiful. Gave my old one to a very needy carless friend who has to have some wheels for a new job. I still have to work out how to turn off the aircon, but that is for another day. Love the blogg. The country must be very clean. Love for now, Peter, Paulette and Co.

Super Story - From:
I've been to Paquime a half a dozen times and you pretty well nailed it. You gave a potential traveler the nuts and bolts of down and back. Although you can't stress enough to things. The Pink House and turning in your papers when you leave the country. Nice Job.

As far as the rain, I agree with Kira, it has rained her all week! So, you are probably having better luck than us. I love all your pictures!! Miss you :)

Unbelievable! - From:
So sorry to hear this... I am so glad to see though that you are all safe and ok! I agree that anger is the prevailing emotion that comes out of something like this. All the other stuff is just that, stuff. And the crappy part is that now you always end up having to think twice about everything and everyone you see. Hang in there Buffy, just keep the chins up and keep telling yourself it's all part of the adventure.

I like this Hans. Poor Forster though, he seems to represent drunk, balding xpats. Your right though - someone who took A passage to India to heart might become an apathetic traveler. I'm glad I finally stumbled on your blog. Hope all is well.

Thanks for reading, Reenie. - From:

This might be a second attempt because I forgot to login my data on my first comment. I really enjoyed this post and especially grateful for the beautiful pictures to soften the horror of Snake Alley. I am such a sissy - but that place and its people are brutal by my standards. Bravo to you and your mates for the courage. :)

Julie: Thanks for softening the horror of the story with the beautiful photos. I read your article and can honestly say I was about as repulsed as I’ve ever been. I am such a sissy, but I think even the strongest stomach would lurch in Snake Alley. Did you ever figure out what you’d ingested with the nut? Obviously you survived. :) As always, great writing with great photos. I'm thrilled to get notifications of your posts, but I tell people I'm usually a beat behind the band looking for my baton. I'm always pleased when I finally arrive here. xoxo
