I like travelling! I'm not as well travelled as I'd like - the big round-the-world trip kicks off in September 07, but I have done little trips so far (1-6 weeks) mostly in Europe, including France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Slovenia, Portugal and a whole summer in a tent in Cornwall! Many of these short European trips have been in order to go to music festivals - Rock en Seine in Paris (where I saw my idol, Beck!) and Primavera Sound in Barcelona are the most recent two I have been to. I hope to go to Roskilde in Denmark next year.
To fund my travelling habit, I work as a Biology teacher in a really nice boarding school in Kent - couldn't quite believe my luck when I landed the job as a 22 year-old newly qualified teacher - really cushdy job with longer-than-the-average school holidays and a free flat thrown in! All the more for the travel fund! Nearly 2 years later and I'm getting ready to leave this job for the aforementioned RTW. As lovely as shouting at teenagers all day is, travelling is what I'm really meant to do - to hell with responsibilties!
So whereas by day I am a respectable, sensible teacher at a reputable boarding school, by night (occasionally, when I'm not marking or doing parent's evenings...) I like to put in my nose ring, put on my eyeliner and flared jeans and do my best impression of an indie kid! (For a great indie disco in London I recommend Crimes Against Pop at the Buffalo Bar just outside Highbury & Islington tube station!) When I'm not gazing at my shoes I go to Spanish evening classes (getting ready for S. America, yayyy!), watch movies, read books, go out with friends, shop in Topshop/H&M and Zara - a lot, write my blog, have my hair cut/coloured/both, make my own clothes, download stuff off iTunes onto my shiny new iPod, watch Neighbours, mosh around my bedroom, drink wine/gin & tonic, take photos and a whole host of other home entertainments!
Hello all, here's what I've been up to in the last few jam-packed days... Said a teary farewell to mum at Heathrow and got on a plane...I don't know what it is about me, but air steward/esses must love me or something cos I got a free upgrade again!! I had originally booked my own seat in the emergency exit aisle to get a bit more leg room and was quite happy there, but the steward said he would move me to "Premium Economy" to move me away from the family with small babies next to me. Ok! Not quite the waited-on-hand-and-foot that I was used to in Business class on the way back from Honduras, but I got a nicer comfier seat, so result! Got to JFK airport and got on the AirTrain to the

Left home at 3am on Thursday morning (after having had a lovely dinner for my Grandad at a pub in Meopham the night before). Drove to Luton airport - had plenty of time and only a momentary panic that I wouldmn´t make it when the M25 got closed ahead of me because of an accident and I was stuck still for 40 minutes. All ok though and got to Luton Airparks well on time. Shuttle bus took me to the airport where I checked in straight away and got a Boots mealdeal (of course!). Got on the plane, which was delayed on the runway for an hour, but eventually got to Faro. Warm but overcast. Took a bus to the
