Tim version: * Crossed from Leon out of Nicaragua through Gualaupe, through Honduras, to San Miguel for the night... unfortunately ripped off a little in Honduras. * Crossed further to San Salvador to replace my dead music player and pick up some other stuff... El Salvador and its people, amazing! The version where I feel like writing in Spanglish as that is the only way I seem to be able to speak now!: So, time to leave Nicaragua! This country rocks, and there is so much to do especially the more off the beaten track you wish to go. Its amazing what you can get up to when safety and often legality is dismissed! You just need to use your head, because no matter how stupid something may be, if you want to do it, there ... read more

Tim version: * Returned to Leon for a proper look and to catch up with photo backups and other stuff. * Saw many a church, got in some latino style club dancing, and sandboarded down an active Volcano! The version that cant describe just how freakin cool it is to sandboard down a Volcano!!: (Also there a tonne of photos for this one as this place has a lot of art that just makes you take the camera out and take another snap! I´ll still try and limit it to a reasonable amount...) Trekking back from Little Corn was a bit of a slow but painless process! The Captain D was agian my vessel of choice. I had to leave Little Corn around 2pm but checkout is 11am so I lazed on Little Corn chilling near ... read more

Tim version: * Landed in tropical carribean paradise, Little Corn Island, and chilled in a beachside hut for a week. * Got my PADI diving qualifications, cracked open some coconuts, and got eaten alive by mosquitos. The version that you should be jealous of, as this place is incredible...: Little Corn is diving paradise. Be it Scuba Diving or Snorkelling, its awesome. Fishing too but meh, not my interest! Its surrounded by reefs, has a really laid back attitude, no cars or pollution creating machinery except a few generators, and is so carribean it isn´t funny. We arrived on the panga and were greeted by hotel runners and people from the two dive shops. I´d already talked to both dives shops but let them have a run at me anyway... the girl from the dive shop ... read more

Tim version: * Took buses and boats from Leon to Managua, to Rama, then past bluefields to the Corn Islands. The version with a little more detail: Leaving Leon I was leaving after having slept for maybe 40 minutes. I was waiting all morning for the sun to come up so it was safer at the bus station and that ended up being about 6am due to a whole lot of clouds blocking it out for a while! Too bad it was raining =( A quick taxi and I´m in the bus for Managua. No other way but through Managua again! My eventual destination is the Corn Islands, which you can fly to from Managua, but would I do that? Nahhh too boring! You miss everything along the way! However, for those pushed for time, its ... read more

And no Tim version, this is just a quickie... Heading outta Ometepe I charged as fast as taxis and slow chicken buses on a Sunday would take me towards Leon but having to go through Managua I failed to make it to Leon in one day so had to stay in Managua. The bus stations in Managua are crazy hectic so they´re always a bit of fun, but when the sun starts setting they stop being fun and start being not so fun when you´ve got all your worldly possessions on your back! No choice here but to taxi it because the place is pretty spread out and the good hostels, well, they´re nowhere near the bus station I´m at! The taxi drivers are just that little bit more crazy here too so another high speed ... read more

Tim version: * Trekked San Juan to Ometepe and climbed the smaller volcano of the two. * Chilled at a little beach and made my way back towards Rivas. The version that actually captures all my rambling stories and excitement that those Tim versions totally miss out!: Soooo Morgan and I, heading back to San Juan, are wondering where to stay.. we´ve taken the piss outta the staff at Casa Oro as they were pretty anal about things and the price wasn´t wonderful so try and find better but fail... doh, thats the second time! So back to Casa Oro we go... it was morning so I got to washing all my clothes, we did the internet thing and could up on some shit, returned boards (oh yeh, I got my money from dinner back! I ... read more

Tim version: * Interesting trip to Maderas including a run in with a river and my pack and lots of water. * Surfed. And Chilled. And then surfed a little more. The ¨shit I wish I had of not laughed at Morgan about zip lock bags¨version: Ok, so a little backtrack, Morgan the chick from New York... she´s organised. REALLY organised. She had medication for things I´d never heard of and that she didn´t have but just in case, all sorts of other goodies, and everything in waterproof and zip lock bags! We had a good laugh at this back in San Juan, but that came back to bite me on the ass but I´m getting ahead of myself a little... Maderas is a beach that they often head to from San Juan Del Sur but ... read more

Tim version: * Stayed at Casa Oro, and surfed Remanso. * Rain heaps and other beaches not possible for the moment. The I cant think of any name for this part version: Heading down from Rivas I caught the good old chicken bus to San Juan Del Sur. Its not a long ride but since I had to nurse my big pack on my lap it certainly felt like one! One of the prices of not wanting your bag on the roof for the ride there. Even when people started emptying off the bus so there were spare seats everywhere, the guy next to me still didn´t feel like moving heh so I had dead legs by the time I got off the bus. I didn´t really know when San Juan Del Sur was coming up ... read more

Tim version: * Learnt Spanish for a week with an awesome local family. * Got to see the local islands, and taste a whole lot of Nicaraguan Cuisine. Not very long for a full week of stuff version: A late get up from La Libertad Hostel and I mozied down to my Spanish school for the week, Nicaragua Mia! Id signed up for 28 hours of lessons, home stay with a local family, AND all activites. Usually Id go the bare essential lessons but I wanted to try the works this time... When down there they took me to my local family and the place was pretty cool! By our standards still way into the poverty zone but by Nicaraguan standards this place was wicked. Nothing grungy or crappy about the place, its a beautiful home. ... read more

Tim version: * Hopped a bus from Penas Blancas to Managua, then another to Granada. * Took a wander around Granada and signed up to learn some Spanish. The size that fits all version: Leaving the Nicaraguan border was simple enough except that a few taxis drivers wouldnt accept a no. I told one of them I think in my best spanish that if he wanted to taxi me from the border to Granada for $2 then he had a deal, but otherwise I was catching the bus, and I think I got it right because he was the one who gruffly pointed me towards the buses! The Nica side where the buses went from was the workers and poor locals area. Tonnes of tin sheds, shacks made from corrugated iron with roofs kept on with ... read more
