Though when I get home, I'm going to upload pictures and edit the entries so that they all have pictures too. Now won't that be nice.... We're in Mumbai now, having skipped Udaipur. I'm kinda sad that it did work out, because it would have been really cool to see the lake palace, but since the rain really didn't permit, this probably worked out for the best. Because the last time I got to the internet was the first time in a long while, I forgot to mention a lot of things, most of them having to do with bugs. First off, it's India, there are mosquitos. They itch. Aly needs to stop scratching her mosquito bites. I hope I don't get malaria, but this is one of those things you just have to deal with when the time comes. Which is sad, because I actually thought it was a really pretty city, and if things had worked out differently concerning weather, I probably would have enjoyed my time there much more. So after so really long train rides that I thought were going to be worse than they really were, but just involved my boredom and lots of sleeping, we are now in Jaisalmer. The trains are actually not bad, I'm just glad to be off of them after so long. We had a twelve hour lay-over of sorts in Jaipur (which we're actually going back to in a couple of days) and did some shopping and saw the Hawa Mahal. We went on a early morning boat ride to see Varnasi at sunrise. It was actually nice (except for waking up really early) and the extraordinary dirtiness of the river. I got some nice pictures of the ghats of some people doing morning prayers. The river on the other hand was a whole new level of dirty. You couldn't see through it even an inch. It's actually been a boring day, India-standards. On the way home from the internet cafe last night, there was a cobra in the street, so we had to stop and wait for it to duck into a hole in the ground so that we could pass. There was a huge crowd following it, and while I didn't actually see the thing because it was dark, that's the kind of thing you don't mess with. I left off last in Amritsar, which is small, annoyingly hard to type, and dirty. There's not much to see there besides the Golden Temple, and despite the fact that it's the capital of Punjab, and the type of Indian clothing we're looking for is sometimes called the Punjab suit, we couldn't actually find it anywhere in Punjab, just sarees. We did however, manage to get fantastically dirty on our way to the train station, partially because of Aly's desire to take a bicycle rickshaw there, and you thought she hated them. Not all that much has happened since I last updated. Aly got hit by a rickshaw. Don't worry. She's fine. She's got a nice bruise on her leg, and she now hates all bicycle rickshaws, but that probably would have been wise even if she hadn't have been hit. She got hit walking on the side of the road. Of course there aren't any sidewalks. We're also kinda sick. Not really sick, like the runs sick, but our stomaches hurt, and it could mold into something.
