When the season ended up in El Colorado i went to stay at ´la laguna aculeo´where a friend pinky lives. Its about an hour south south of Santiago and is the first amazingly beautiful place i saw in Chile. The house and lake are surrounded by hills, and in the distance you could see the andes, with a bit of snow still at the top. We had really nice weather so i guess that made it even more stunning. We only spent a day and two nights there, so we went to the lake with his friend Enric who was visiting from Andorra. We messed about jumping in the lake and doing flips and stuff, and got some pretty cool photos. But since then my camera has been nicked (ill explain in the next blog) so ... read more
Soooo...in Pucon i stayed with Nicos family. They have a second little house at the bottom of their garden which they sometimes rent out. I stayed there with Pinky and Juan (they both worked in the park in El Colorado and came down to visit too). It was just like being up in El Colorado...All the same people. Loads of the bar staff, and cafe people came from Pucon, so there was a nice group of friends. On the first night we had all the friends round for some ´copetes´(drinks) and all got a little tiddly. I went to bed a bit earlier and left my laptop out with music playing. Pinky put it away in the cupboard to keep it safe when he went to bed, and most the people that were round stayed and slept ... read more
Hola mis chicos! Umm...sorry its been such a long time, i kinda forgot to write on the blog for the last 2 months :( But im now gonna update on all that in a few posts and try and keep it a bit more up to date. So...the rest of the season! In August be had a lot of snowfall, which meant lots of powder riding. It was snowing at least every week, if not twice a week. And the great thing about El Colorado is that when it snows, itll snow a lot all day, and you wake up the next day to blue skies and sunshine with perfect visability! One week we had a metre of snow fall in a day and a bit, which left us with several days of new lines. (During ... read more
Howdy, Went to Chillan last week...bit of a disappointment to be honest, but purely down to the snow conditions, not the actual resort (which was muy bonita) I left El Colorado on Saturday (while it was heavily snowing here) and stayed the night in Santiago. The guy that i got a lift with lives in the hills and the building had an outdoor hot tub! So some friends came round and we chilled there looking over night time in Santiago. Pretty awesome, lucky bugger. Headed to Chillan on Sunday and found a Cabin for a tenner each per night. It was pretty good, like 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, lounge, kitchen, fire. But yeh, the snow sucked. The first day nothing was open except the baby slope cos of wind at the top of the mountain, so ... read more
Well...Its kinda been an eventful few days. I hurt my ankle on Tuesday so didnt ride weds of thurs, and just played a bit of guitar (i can now play a whole song!) and watched films. Last night we went out...and i managed to give myself some sort of food poisoning! I tried these mussels from a can...i thought, they're probably gonna be rank as they are from a can and not fresh, but gave them a whirl anyway. I only had 3 little pieces, but 2 hours later felt horrendous at the bar, luckily i hadnt really had anything to drink! I was sick, but then after sitting down and eating some bread for an hour or so felt a lot better. Today im as right as rain!! (Which apparently its doing a lot of over ... read more
Hello team! I'm up in the mountains now, in the resort about 40k from Santiago called El Colorado. I got up here Friday and got dropped off at the building im staying in called Monte Blanco. Im staying in an appartment with Karl (who im renting off) and at the moment a guy from actual 'Colorado' called Jake. There will be more people coming and going, i think up to 8 during the season. So, on Friday afternoon after putting some bits and bobs away, and buying an (expensive) season pass me and Karl hit the slopes. It hadnt snowed for 2 weeks but as theres already been a lot of snow (theres apparently already like 2m on the ground) so it was fine. Luckily the sun was out so it had softened up a bit. ... read more
Hey everyone!!! Thought id make my first entry into my blog on my first day! Everything has been absolutely brilliant so far.... Got to the airport with my bag 10kilos overweight... no problems. I was told i could only take one snowboard, boots and bindings and nothing else in my snowboard bag, naturally i put in 2 boards, helmet, several coats trousers and other random bits and bobs....absolutely fine! Then spread out on my THREE seats on the 2 hour flight to Zurich. I then had to change planes, and what i saw of Zurich airport (Switzerland) was really nice and swish. Then had 11 hours and 6000 miles to Brazil, which went surprisingly fast - i took some herbal sleeping tablets which im sure just kept me awake cos i wasnt tired at all and ... read more
