just got back from the most amazing place i've ever been to on earth. wed night molly and I got on our 10 30 pm semi cama bus to córdoba sooo excited for what was to come. we got there at 7 20 am on thursday morning, arrived at pewman che hostel and were the only huespedes. the guy told us that we would have the hostel to ourselves this week because for some reason no one was coming to córdoba. we took a 2 hour descanso and then set out to explore the city, starting with delish facturas and cafe [View Full Entry]

sooo angeles told me that her family, at the parilla on sunday, thought i was from Britain or Ireland and I actually get that a lot from Argentines here. Gustavo told me it's because I have confidence when I speak, I dress very well, and I seem to be very cultured and educated, needless to say it made my ego thissssss big haha. I'm bouncing yet again, this time to Córdoba and the central Sierra mountain range for some hiking, parasailing, and horseback riding and rock climbing. say what, who would have thought that Liam would leave the big city and [View Full Entry]

Just got back from traveling to Rosario! Friday afternoon at 1, Taryn and I met at the Retiro train station to get on our omnibus. It took about 5 hours, we got to our hostel a little bit after 6. It was called Che Pampas Hotel and it was amazing - so clean, really small, chill staff, included desayuno, living room with dvd player, patio with parilla…hot! We dropped off our stuff, grabbed some maps and immediately went exploring. We walked all the way down Avenida Belgrano (shady!) to see the Planetarium but it was closed, the only thing going on [View Full Entry]

- go to bardot for my birthday - drink more champagne rosa - go to sitges for more karaoke heard a guy singing high and dry - radiohead on the platform on the subte today, stayed and heard him sing the whole thing. LOVE that song, but when a man with an argentine accent and an acoustic guitar sings it, perfecto. going to rosario for an overnight trip with taryn on friday. sunday is angeles' birthday parilla fiesta on the rooftop terrace we have, that i just discovered the other day. looks like i have a place to tan, and to [View Full Entry]

life has been amazing por supuesto. school is fine, mildly interesting. i really like my uba class and i'm glad that i'm taking it with molly and katie has lame as that sounds it's nice to have a comfort zone and not be the only one who only catches every few words the professor says. friday i went shopping in palermo with edson and actually bought something for a change...2 really cool camisetas. that night we pregamed hard at edson's and went to bulnes class where we met guyrompaa and got free passes to bahrein so went. the music was a [View Full Entry]

bellas artes was amazing...so beautiful. really loved the room with all of goya's drawings. loved the sculpted statuettes. didn't have enough time to see the whole museum, but loved the european exhibits also. much much better than malba, and gratis :) parque de la costa was really fun...argentine rollercoasters are a little scary. desafio =challenge . el infierno was ridiculous, la mina abandonada was even worse. there were a lot of other fun rides. tigre seems boring, small, and que fea otherwise...didn't really want to stay at night in the afueras. classes are good...lit and o [View Full Entry]

weekend was pretty good...friday we went to a masquerade ball at alsina with edson and joe...it was so lame. the music was awful, lots of old dudes...becca, olivia, and charlotte took a cab to meet us but didn't get in even though we had 3 free passes left, i was so pissed. we left kind of early for us haha. SATURDAY..what an event. so saturday I met taryn for lunch at las violetas, what else is new, whenever it was that I rolled out of bed. In general, I hate going out to boliches all night because I inevitably sleep til [View Full Entry]

what a week, phew. to start, i'm officially a resident of argentina yayyuhh. tomorrow i get my visa at 7:45 am noooo. i took a lot of classes this week and wasn't really thrilled with any of them. for starters, the prof never showed to the international security class, plus it meets on mondays so I don't think I want to take it. UBA is just too bootleg - graffiti all over the classrooms, people coming in interrupting class to pass out political flyers and booklets, the acoustics in the room are awful, it smells like spray paint and chalk, etc. [View Full Entry]

weekend was amazing! it was hard to top our little family outing at the eco reserve but friday night we went barhopping in palermo soho, around plaza serrano and ended up at clara, which was a two floor bar that was very argentine, we were the only americans there. there was a mini boliche upstairs playing reggaeton music, it was really fun. saturday becca and i went on another romantic date. we went to the carlos thays botanical gardens in palermo which was really nice, then we went to the japanese gardens which were AMAZING. it was really small, with a [View Full Entry]

i am DEFINITELY dropping my ditella class. I decided it would be worth it to go to the práctico today and see what that was like before I gave it up completely. I also got there over an hour early because I wanted to explore Belgrano, especially if I ended up staying at DiTella. It's such a pretty neighborhood, the houses look incredible, cobblestone streets and all. There's a great big park that reminds me a lot of Central Park, people lying out studying, with HUGE palm trees. I stopped into a cafe for some cafe con leche...the young waiter was [View Full Entry]
