Hey Latina! LOVE the new nickname by the way. I know what you need to put on your list for Santa.....a new digital camera SLR with a load of batteries!! :) I am so enjoying your pictoral documentation of your trip! The little tours on the way to and home from work are something to look forward to. Will you be home in time for Twilight? Lets make plans to go ok? Good luck with the apartment hunting! Don't forget to Six Sigma your project as you go! Take care and am looking forward to more of your blogging! Karen

Exploring - From: exploring
In reading the newspaper Sunday, they wrote in the Travel Section, an article on DR….very interesting., Wanted to ask you, about the market place and how the food was. A little different I would envision. And your Spanish ……how many words have you learned by now…. Also, working on a good tan… can hardly wait to hear your stories, and see pictures.

Cristobal Columbus? - From: Columbus
Some Dominicans tend to shy away from the monument because of the exhorbitant amount fo USD that was spent building it; in a time where civil unrest was on everyone's mind (high rate of unemployment, socio-economic issues and the likes tend to do that to any human being). Also at night this monument has high power lamps that form a huge cross in the sky, like the old batman lamp that formed his logo whenever the commissioner needed help. Picture this if you will, you live in a nearby neighborhood and there is a blackout, (did I mention blackouts are a part of daily routine?), and you look at the sky and see this huge cross, stealing the electricity which you are not consuming. Also there is an area that has what they call the wall of shame, which prohibits tourist from seeing the poor neighboring areas that border this monument; afterall, tourism is about culturial history, not present day reality.

Weather - From: First day at the office
Hey Girlie, Glad to hear you made it there...safe and sound...for the time being! I can only imagine your reaction to the crazy driving! hahaha I've seen you react to my driving while in a rental car! HAHAHA Too bad you can't make a video of your drive to work...now that would be good!!! I have been watching the weather and it looks like you are being hit by hurricane Omar!! Did you company plan to send you over there during the hurricane season? Geesh! Try to stay dry! =) Good pic of the CC memorial. Having seen the memorial in Spain, you can tell the Dominican's don't care for good ol Chris. The Spainiards must have really liked him....his memorial there is beautiful!! Anyway, have a great time!! I love reading your blogs! Can't wait to see all of your pictures when you return! Love, Your Favorite Cousin Andrea
