Home Sweet Home. Andrew is happy to be back... I am not sure yet. Flight back was painful. Sound didn't work for the movies, they ran out of water in the toilets and the food was frozen! The flight attendant told Andrew to hold his lunch up to the window in the sun to defrost it!!! No joke! We had an awesome trip and over 2000 photos and 2 hours of video (that we will not make everyone watch) to remember it. Happy Travelling!! (need to save for the next trip now)... read more

Beautiful day today, had macca's for breakfast. They have a $1 menu with Parfait and with evey meal you get pineapple. So it was great. Went for a long walk on the foreshore in front of all the hotels. Beautiful morning and there are some fancy hotels there. Checked out a few... you needed a wrist band at the Hilton so we neasrly got in trouble for being in there, but got out before anyone noticed. Ended up back at the Ala Moana Shopping Centre, and after another walk back spent the afternoon at the beach. Headed out to the Thai resturant we went to the first night. Another relaxing afternoon and night.... read more

Started today with an orientation breakfast supplied by the company that picked us up from the airport. Nice food, and they gave us information of several tours we could do. Since we are both stuffed decided to just do a Sunset Cruise on Sat night. After the breakfast they took us to a jewerelly factory where they make things out of coral. Pretty interesting. Walked over to the Ala Moana shopping centre and finished our Christmas Shopping. Got the free shuttle back to our hotel and wandered the streets. Headed over to the beach, but weather was a little cooler so only Andrew had a swim. Spent the afternoon relaxing. Decided to head to the movies. We found a bus and eventually found the movies. The bus didn't go directly there, so we walked a lot ... read more

After very minimal sleep we headed to the airport to fly out to Hawaii.. A 6.5 hour flight, that seemed to drag on. Saw a movie called “Post-Graduate” or something like that, which filled in a bit of time. Was so exciting to get off thr plane to heat and humidity! Shorts and thongs!!! We were met by r hotl transfer guy who gave us a real lay and a big Hawaiian Hug :) Got to our hotel were upgraded aain to a Deluxe Suite over looking the ocean and a complementary bottle of Champagne. Think every holiday we go on now we are going to say w are a honeymoon couple :) Found Happy hour $5 at 5 for cocktails on the pool deck over looking the ocean. Fantastic and so warm still. Last night we came across a bit of a deal which was $10 tickets to a show if we gave up a few hours of our morning too have a look at a new resort. So we did. Headed out to a resort and sat through a presentation on what turned out to be a Time Share... We had a tour of the “resort” and then were trying to be pushed to buy into time share... started off at $30,000, then down to $20,000, $10,000 and after finally convincing them we weren’t interested, they tried again for $5000. HOW DODGY!!! After this we were hoping that the show would be worth it. Got back and headed to the factory outlets. Four and a half hours later we left!! Had to buy a new suit case to ... read more

A bright early start to the day at 4am. We jumped on a bus and settled in for our expected 6 hour ride to the Grand Canyon and to our surprise after 30 mins was at the airport. Andrew and I had no idea, but we were actually flying to the canyon! We were on 15 seater plane for an hour flight. Flew over Hoover Dam and out into the middle of no where. After about 40 mins, Andrew and I were again surprised to be flying over snow, we arrived at Grand Canyon airport to -14c and freshest and softest snow we have both ever seen. It would’ve been nice to be told it would be cold, as our hoodies really weren’t helping too much in the cold. We were then escorted out to our ... read more

Headed straight to the half price tickets place and after a 40 mins wait managed to get tickets to see David Copperfield. Andrew was very very excited! Spent most of the day exploring the other end of the strip, mostly the older casinos, Circus Circus, Stratosphere (huge tower with a few rides on top - didn’t go up there though), Riveria, Monte Carlo, the Palazzo and Venetian. The Venetian was great, it is the one with the roof painted like a sky and gondolas going through the casino. Very impressive place. Don’t know if Andrew mentioned yesterday, but it is so cool, you can drink everywhere. But drinks from the convenience store, casinos, or wherever and walk the streets. They even have huge frozen drink bottles!! Seeing David Copperfield live was awesome. He is an amazing ... read more

An early start this morning. We packed our bags and picked up the car spot on 9am - a gay white Chrysler. Laura wasn’t very impressed at all, but I figure we would just blend in to West Hollywood without too many problems. Jumped onto a couple of classic LA highways (6 lanes wide) and headed east out of LA. We jumped off in Pasadena (an outer LA suburb) to check out a huge college football venue - the Rose Bowl. Took us ages to find, but it was worth it. The stadium is located in a valley and hosts one of the biggest college football games of the year - the Rose Bowl (funny that!). And Pasadena was a lovely suburb with large houses and well-kept gardens, so the detour was worth it. Onto the ... read more

After another few hectic days, we desperately needed a sleep-in. It turns out that LA had a large storm move through, so it had rained most of the night and was still raining all morning. So it was a good morning to take it easy. Once the rain eased late morning, we headed down to Santa Monica. We checked out the huge pier (the official end of Route 66), before walking along the beach toward Venice Beach. We encountered some weird and wacky stuff along this walk - the only shops open were tattoo parlours and pipe shops (not your musical instrument type). And the only people around were either homeless or insane (the kind that talk to themself and then get angry when you don’t respond to them!). We ducked into a bistro for lunch ... read more

I love universal studios!! Had to catch a couple of public buses and made it to Universal Studios by 9:30. Of course a little too keen as gates didn’t open until 10! We were on the VIP tour and were completely disappointed when we saw about 100 people on a companies Christmas Party at the VIP entrance. But turned out OK as we were kept separate from them... thank goodness... they were all rough factory workers! Anyways, met out group (16 of us, Aussies and New Zealanders) had breakfast in the lounge and headed into the park to the Simpson’s ride. Which is a simulator and pretty cool, next Jurrasic Park (which they provided poncho’s for us), and then the Mummy, inside rollar coaster in the dark. Awesome. Then went on a special effects tour (so ... read more
