Are U quipa South America » Peru » Arequipa » Arequipa
We arrived in arequipa after spending the night on the buss, i think, if your going overnight you should get a full cama not a semi cama seat. Our room at los andes was nice and sunny and realy close to the plaza de amas. We went and had some coffee, the best so far at somthing like cafe Ole?. We went for an hour long tour, yes a tour with a guide and everything, luckly no hordes of loud... people. We went arround the monsestary of santa catilina looking at all the different accomodations that housed nuns of yester year [View Full Entry]

Ica South America » Peru » Ica » Ica
On leaving Huacachina with our english speaking companion we went on our wine-museum tour of Ica. The museum had many "alien like" skulls and nasca line pictures according to the guide and the many following american tourists ew. Next was the wine tasting at the pisco manufacturing place where there was a group of school children on excursion to the winery. Also at the second place we found some kind of private museum with the ugliest stuffed sloth that one is ever likley to see. After being eaten by mosquitoes we had some kind of chain fast food and boarded the [View Full Entry]

Lima (aka drinkinabag) South America » Peru » Lima » Lima » Lima
Now Andrew writing as lachlan got too tired standing by the computer. The flight in to lima was uncrowded and ultimately very comfortable. After clearing our first customs in a foreign language we were rushed off to our hotel through the sprawling mass of suburbia called Lima, which on first sight was a little daunting especially given the interpretation some of the locals took to the road rules, driving on the wrong side of the road and launching in to all merging opportunities. Also a little disconcertingly there were masses of riot police and tanks near the centre of the city. [View Full Entry]

On the flight to san salvador we met a very interesting person. Thy were a dress maker and their name was Filis (we cant work out how to spell this name so i will alter the spelling as i go so we will at some point hopefully get it correct). Philis also happened to be a drunk smelly, racist, woman obsesed, prostitute loving, sister loving??? middle aged man. At SSalvador we decided it would be easyer to not leave the airport as it was in a very rural area. We slept on the floor for a few hours had some ok, [View Full Entry]

We arrived in LA and gided by an enthusiastic man to the correct bus for the price of a donation to his selected charity. That seems to be the price asked for any advice in LA. We caught the big blue bus to santa monica. The SM pier was mostly closed and cold but it gave a good view of LA. We went in search of coffee in vain, ending up with some starbucks like crap in a cup. After being acosted by more people asking for donations we found an ok spot to eat and I had a Nutella Martini... [View Full Entry]

Dessert? South America » Peru » Ica » Huacachina
So we got to ICA and were imediatly taken up by Jose and convince that we should sleep at the hostal that he worked for. We rode to huacacina and my first impression was that ... awesome. (Its a good sentence andrew shut your face). We had some food in ica at a locals resturaunt for 7 soles each for two corses. The first was a soup with chicken feet and liver and heart, andrew was apparently to full to eat his heart. Upon calling home i discovered that mum and dad had been tracking my progress and even knew what [View Full Entry]

Planing Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Camden
Soon andrew and i will be heading off to see some of south america. We will be wandering Peru and Brazil (hopefully with the aid of a donkey to carry our bags). We head off in twelve days and tomorrow i plan to start learning some spanish. The dirty australian dollar is lying drunk in the gutter today and so, as a result, we will have to make this trip with half the funding we originally envisaged. The flights have all been booked, brazilian visas wrangled and vaccinations injected. There has been some half hearted reserving of hostels including Loki in [View Full Entry]
