Travel Blog | lachlanhannan http://www.travelblog.org/Bloggers/lachlanhannan/ Travel adventures in journals and photos from lachlanhannan en-us Sun, 06 Dec 2009 21:12:06 +0000 Sun, 06 Dec 2009 21:12:06 +0000 falz We got pretty tanned at illha do mel and then we flew to foz man planes are far superior to busses in fox we checked into an actual hotel it had a fountain out the front and everything. We therefore watched a few hours of tv in our air conditioned room cause apparently rainforrests are hot. We at dinner at a all you can eat barbeque and oh my best sausages in the world in the world. The next http://www.travelblog.org/South-America/Brazil/Paran-/Foz-do-Igua-u/blog-356955.html Ilha do Mel After an overnight bus ride down to Curitiba and a two hour bus down to pontal do sul we took a little boat out to the island to see the first real sun in the Brazil part of our trip. The island has no cars and has a protected northern end which Lachlan is convinced contains some kind of top secret military base due to the very buff perk rangers on the island and big wire fences that or the womb http://www.travelblog.org/South-America/Brazil/Paran-/Ilha-do-Mel/blog-356952.html BUZIOS Buzios is a trendy little costal town just north of rio kind of reminded me of a theme park without the rides just the shops. Some places worth mentioning are Chez Crepe probably the best most extensive selection of crepes i have ever seen captains bar and the bar across the road from captains bar where you can listen to 5 units of live music and watch the waves trying to macro elusive geckos. http://www.travelblog.org/South-America/Brazil/Rio-de-Janeiro/B-zios/blog-355360.html Copacobana not as good as the one in bolivia Hey we are now in brazilor we have been for a few days but to lazy to write anything. The flight from lima had a 30 us departure tax and andrew got all his toiletries thrown out by security and got pissed off about it haha he is still sore. I was stupid and packed a bottle of grog classy grog mind you in my carry on whish was swiftly binned. After geting to rio via sao paulo we checked into c http://www.travelblog.org/South-America/Brazil/Rio-de-Janeiro/Rio-de-Janeiro/Copacabana/blog-354720.html cusco to lima The train back to cusco was nice and long and made longer still by our refusal to get off and take a buss into cusco from the outlying station Poroy which would have saved us half an hour travel time. We got back to cusco pretty late and decided to shun the questionable saftey of a taxi and walk arround on foot. Dinner was at McDonnalds woops but i managed to scoff down some cultural street f http://www.travelblog.org/South-America/Peru/Lima/Lima/Miraflores/blog-353902.html Mucha Pitchu So our last night in cusco involved experienceing the delicacies of the street vendors and the local markets. We had meat and one veg on a stick some kind of fried sausage on a stick tea made from some type of grass oil flavoured doughnuts and juice of three mangoes. And our GITs are still intact. We also came across the wholesaler of all the souvenier stores over here. Bought some local Pisco http://www.travelblog.org/South-America/Peru/Cusco/Aguas-Calientes/blog-353073.html QuosQo We came up from copa stayed one night in puno and are now in cusco. Our hostel LOKI is awesome so much to do and so many travelers oh and they are playing harry potter rite now woop. The first day was of general exploration of the city then going out to a restaurant too expensive for us but it was good food. Next finding our friend from the dorm wre are in Nick we headed out on the town h http://www.travelblog.org/South-America/Peru/Cusco/Cusco/Cusco/blog-352541.html The land of the sun king We just got back from isla del sol well ok we have had breakfast and slpt for about five hours since but whatever. The boat to the island took an inordinatly long amount of time as we chugged along in the weird hotcold weather that if found at this hight. On the island we set off on a walk from the southern tip to the north i dont think at first andrew was convinced that this was a brilliant id http://www.travelblog.org/South-America/Bolivia/La-Paz-Department/Isla-del-Sol/blog-351590.html Copa and Cupola With much stamping we passed into bolivia and suprising ly it didnt cost anything exxept the small entry tax into copacobana. Our reservation at hotel la cupola worked out and after working out that we wernt actualy a gay couple looking to share a bed we were given a room with four of them. The view over copa from the hotel is amazing and the whole town is relaxed and sunny. At sunset we walked to http://www.travelblog.org/South-America/Bolivia/La-Paz-Department/Copacabana/blog-351237.html Puno On arrival to puno Lachlan and to much less an extent myself became affected by altitude sickness finding it much more tiring to walk around the city. We had quite some adventure through the local makets looking for a llama hide with one poor man bicycle taxiing us around town to some very natural looking hides with flesh still somewhat attached unfortunately not what we were after. Also on the w http://www.travelblog.org/South-America/Peru/Puno/Puno/blog-351236.html Are U quipa We arrived in arequipa after spending the night on the buss i think if your going overnight you should get a full cama not a semi cama seat. Our room at los andes was nice and sunny and realy close to the plaza de amas. We went and had some coffee the best so far at somthing like cafe Ole. We went for an hour long tour yes a tour with a guide and everything luckly no hordes of loud... people http://www.travelblog.org/South-America/Peru/Arequipa/Arequipa/blog-351232.html Ica On leaving Huacachina with our english speaking companion we went on our winemuseum tour of Ica. The museum had many alien like skulls and nasca line pictures according to the guide and the many following american tourists ew. Next was the wine tasting at the pisco manufacturing place where there was a group of school children on excursion to the winery. Also at the second place we found some k http://www.travelblog.org/South-America/Peru/Ica/Ica/blog-351230.html Dessert So we got to ICA and were imediatly taken up by Jose and convince that we should sleep at the hostal that he worked for. We rode to huacacina and my first impression was that ... awesome. Its a good sentence andrew shut your face. We had some food in ica at a locals resturaunt for 7 soles each for two corses. The first was a soup with chicken feet and liver and heart andrew was apparently to f http://www.travelblog.org/South-America/Peru/Ica/Huacachina/blog-350433.html Lima aka drinkinabag Now Andrew writing as lachlan got too tired standing by the computer. The flight in to lima was uncrowded and ultimately very comfortable. After clearing our first customs in a foreign language we were rushed off to our hotel through the sprawling mass of suburbia called Lima which on first sight was a little daunting especially given the interpretation some of the locals took to the road rules http://www.travelblog.org/South-America/Peru/Lima/Lima/Lima/blog-350427.html San Salvador International On the flight to san salvador we met a very interesting person. Thy were a dress maker and their name was Filis we cant work out how to spell this name so i will alter the spelling as i go so we will at some point hopefully get it correct. Philis also happened to be a drunk smelly racist woman obsesed prostitute loving sister loving middle aged man. At SSalvador we decided it would be eas http://www.travelblog.org/Central-America-Caribbean/El-Salvador/San-Salvador/blog-350423.html LA Los Angeles We arrived in LA and gided by an enthusiastic man to the correct bus for the price of a donation to his selected charity. That seems to be the price asked for any advice in LA. We caught the big blue bus to santa monica. The SM pier was mostly closed and cold but it gave a good view of LA. We went in search of coffee in vain ending up with some starbucks like crap in a cup. After being acosted by http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/California/Los-Angeles/Santa-Monica/blog-350422.html Planing Soon andrew and i will be heading off to see some of south america. We will be wandering Peru and Brazil hopefully with the aid of a donkey to carry our bags. We head off in twelve days and tomorrow i plan to start learning some spanish. The dirty australian dollar is lying drunk in the gutter today and so as a result we will have to make this trip with half the funding we originally envisaged http://www.travelblog.org/Oceania/Australia/New-South-Wales/Camden/blog-345019.html
