Greetings all! Just a quick post to say I will be seeing you very shortly! Sunday night Oz time I'll be touching down in Sydney. Can you believe I've been here three months? I know I can't. Sorry I haven't posted from Florence, but the rather prohibitive prices to use the internet here have made it impossible! I can assure you I have lots to tell you and many pictures to post, but I've decided I'll do it from Canberra, although that may be slightly less exciting for you! Plus I want to have a complete record for me, too, and it wouldn't really be one if I skipped on my last month! But to give you some hints...I've done an art history course, gone to Asssi, Pisa, Venice, gone to a soccer game, and........seen one ... read more

Ciao a tutti! Sorry it's been such a long time between posts. My last week in Rome went very quickly, and here is Salerno it's not nearly as easy to get on the net. Still trying to work out how I'll do this since there's sooo much to say, but strap yourselves in and let's just see what happens, hmm? edit: I've tried to split it up in parts because this is turning out to be the blog entry to end all blog entries, so I wish you good luck!! Have also tried to put as many pretty piccys as possible to distract you along the way! But please remember: Stop, Revive, Survive! Part 1 - ROME Well Marianne and Sybille left on my last full weekend in Rome, which was a bit sad. The new ... read more

Well, the problem with not updating for a while is that I've done too much in between!!! Now there's either too much to say, or I can't remember half of what I did.....if I can find the perfect balance between the two then hopefully we will be just about right! Monday was a big sightseeing day. First I went to the Basilica di San Clemente, which is really cool. On street level is the church currently in use, which was built in the 12th century. Tis very pretty with frescoes and a really awesome mosaic in the dome. Then, you can go down under the church where they have excavated the church from the 6th century. It was a Christian church obviously, and there are some cool frescoes they have found of Jesus & co doing ... read more

Only a quick entry to say a few things, again sans photos, but they will appear eventually :) I've been here just on three weeks now, and I remember saying to Marianne a while ago that I couldn't really tell if I had really improved at all. But over the last few days I am realising there are all kinds of things I couldn't have done before I left Australia. So I present to you... Things I can do now wot I couldn't do before! * When I go into a shop now I get annoyed if they talk to me in english * I have bought an Italian phone and sim, which involved two shops, comparing prices, finding out stuff n' stuff * I went to a doctor last week who only spoke Italian * ... read more

So I hear the weather 'non รจ molto bene' in Olde Canberry Towne lately? Well Rome continues to be ridiculously hot, with a minimum of 30 degrees most days. Maybe we could meet somewhere in the middle and everyone would be happy! Have been pretty tired this week, I think school makes you tired as well as the heat, but I am pushing ahead and am still enjoying myself, don't worry! Where to start? Well I guess first of all, Nicolas left this morning. It's a shame as he was a good balancing influence in the flat, what with the non-talkingness of L&L and the over-talkingness and general domination by Marianne! Plus he was good fun. I like Marianne and Sybille (who are actually sisters, I don't know if I ever mentioned that bit!), but this ... read more

Buona sera! (Good afternoon).....I'm trying not to start every single post with 'a lot has happened since my last post' but damn it's hard, because IT'S TRUE!!! Last time I posted we were going to Santa Maria del Popolo etc (ie Thursday night). Because most people had done it on the Tuesday, there was only me, Sybille, Marianne + two other girls (both snobs in level 'superiore' who didn't want to talk to us!). Anyway, church was kinda cool, with a disproportionate amount (I thought anyway) of skulls, skulls and crossbones, skeletons in robes etc. Fake, I must add with some sadness. There were lots of scuptures by famous people whose names I don't remember but did recognise at the time, and also two paintings by Caravaggio (at least I remember that one) :) Took photos, ... read more

Ciao a tutti! I am about to attempt the unattempted (for me so far anyway) and post some photos! I am hoping it will work, v. convoluted process involving downloading them at school over two days, saving them to my email, coming into the city to an internet cafe to try and get them up, and hopefully - succeed! I will just post photos relating to previous entries (ie stuff wot i've already seen n' dun) and after that, if it doesn't take all night and I'm not too disheartened, I will write another post with an update and more photos 'since we last met'. Oh btw some of the other photos I wanted to post don't look like they have transferred, but I will definitely post some photos of the school, flat, Forum etc. Here ... read more

Ciao! Well again, lots has happened since my last post. Me, Nicolas (now have correct sp but is pronounced 'Nicola'), Marianne & Sibille deciding that we don't like Luigi & Lucia is one. They aren't very friendly, they are a bit weird and you feel like they are watching you all the time or else like you are intruding. Like if they're in the kitchen you don't want to go in etc. They barely speak to us and when they do it's normally Luigi going "don't shut the microwave door so loudly" (to me the other day) "don't shut the front door so loudly" (to Nicolas) or some other crap. AND today they told us that we have to pay line rental even if we are just receiving calls! They are getting so much money from ... read more

Ciao! A lot has happened since I last posted. Least of all another thunderstorm playing havoc with my hair ;) So, as I mentioned in my last post, I moved to my 'Spanish Apartment' yesterday (for those who have seen the movie). It's a simple sentence, isn't it - "I moved to my apartment." Deceptively so, cos there was a hell of a lot of complications, anguish, confusion and CRAP in general! Again, Benvenuto in Italia! In the end I had decided to get a taxi from my hotel to the apartment (even though they are really close) because I had excessively excess baggage. The taxi driver dropped me there and I dragged my case to the door with all the nameplates and buzzers - couldn't see their name ANYwhere. The taxi driver called out to ... read more
